So right now I'm in my freshman year of college, but I'm really thinking hard about enlisting (not necessarily right now, maybe after the first year or first semester). It is a pretty lefty college but no obnoxiously so, and my classmates and professors are all pretty cool. Social distancing is a pain but I can't do anything about that and complaining won't help. It's just the whole thing feels so unfulfilling, and I was already planning on enlisting after college, so why not start now? Why take 4 years of college I don't really want and probably won't use?

At this point I'm still just thinking about it. I've always felt drawn towards service, whether military or law enforcement, so I know that is the field I am going into. It's just a question of now or later. If there are any military pedes out there, I would love some advice!

ROTC. Stay in school, get your degree and enter the armed forces as an officer. Plenty of time to figure out a career path.

ROTC isn't an option at my school, but I was thinking about going into PLC if I stayed in college.

I’d go to a different school with ROTC then!

Good for you. I would have loved to serve, but my visits with recruiters were kind of a headache. Right off the bat they were telling me to lie about taking ADHD meds, being dyslexic, etc. I was in my mid 20s at the time with a successful job. Amazing how stupid our government can be. Make up stupid rules, expect people to lie and break the law to work around them :-(

Don't listen to literally anything the recruiter tells you
