Calling southeastern DC a ghetto would be putting it mildly. It's one of those places where if you accidentally take the wrong freeway exit and and end up there, you run every red light until you get back to the freeway because the danger of being carjacked is that high.
Is that per year?
Of course over a period of 8 years, thats $3,750.
If you put 20 kids together you could pay a great teacher $75k a year and get better results with that money.
“The public elementary and secondary schools in the District of Columbia spent $30,115 per pupil during the 2016-2017 school year, according to Table 236.75 in the Department of Education's "Digest of Education Statistics“.
I don’t mean to be a dick, but it’s the first sentence in the link.
I went to a private high school, and in college had a professor going on and on about how East St Louis schools were so bad because of their funding, and how if they got more funding per student it would improve. I put together a little presentation showing that my private high school had far less per student than East St Louis high schools. I showed that East St Louis high schools had a far lower success rate than my high school. I showed that my high school was about middle of the road for private schools. I showed that my high school was near the top when compared with public schools. The teacher (and many of the students) still refused to acknowledge that more funding does not make a school better. Parental involvement does.
I think you'll find that the superintendent of schools and the administration takes home the lions share. In New York state you can look all that up easily online. Not sure for DC though. A friend is a teacher and the superintendent of schools for his district makes around $250,000 per year
The administrators the home the lions share per capita. The number of administrators as a ratio has been going way up. What do they even do that's so important?
I see a lot of negative comments here. Kinda pisses me off. I’ve been through those parts once or twice. There was a guy, he was a gang banger, named Corn Pop. Corn Pop like to touch the wet hairs in my leg at the local YMCA. We both enjoyed listening to N.W.A. Corn Pop was a good dude. I told him that he “ain’t black” and he then I said “Listen here jack!”. I’m sleepy. Gotta run.
More than Japan and Germany per student probably
A simple google search using their instant snippets that show on top of searches:
US 11k per student
Japan 8.745k per student
Germany 9k per student
Ah so more than all three countries combined, per child.
Gotta pay for all that security and bloated Administrator budget
Don't forget new football helmets yearly
These urban schools are closer to zoos than education systems.

The harsh reality is that they may be better off if they were even closer to zoos so more people could go observe the truth of what it’s like there.
That’s gifted and talented compared to Baltimore city.
But they are the high IQ voters
Man, think about if parents had that money to spend on their own kids...
But 90% can tell the difference between a xim, xir, and xur
Doubt it. That's more of a white college liberal type thing.
Truf
That's exactly what democrats want.
"They need more funding!"
"Almost forgot, we have to ban homeschooling, private, and charter schools because they hurt public schools!"

I bet there's plenty of teachers who would be jumping all over 10 student classrooms for half that.

I think they divide the annual budget by the number of students and they get the 30k
Why not pay a parent instead. Fuck.
Can we find an archive site that works with Brave, please?
It worked with me, but maybe because I’m on the mobile version of brave.
Here in Hawaii they spend 18.5k per child

Not at all true. It's the teachers.
There are only one or two superintendent of school systems.
There are hundreds of teachers
The administrators the home the lions share per capita. The number of administrators as a ratio has been going way up. What do they even do that's so important?
Again, this is patently false. Not in a single state do administrators take home more money than teachers considering the whole district.
Simply put there are just more teachers. Admins may have a higher salary but there is a fraction of them compared to teachers.
I'm not here to blow smoke up your ass, but to set things straight.
I'm not sure how else to explain this to you.
So here's a picture driven by 2016 state budget data:

Red is your argument for lion share
Blue is my argument for lion share.
Red are administrators and Blue are teachers. Do you notice which one is a larger portion?
Simple example to help you understand more clearly, if pictures aren't your thing:
100 teachers making 75,000 per year (Likely) VS 10 admin making 300,000 per year. (Unlikely)
I'll let you run the numbers on that.
Now look into Camden NJ, it is even worse
I wonder if their melanin content has anything to do with it.
Wow. $30,000 per YEAR per kid in tax payer money. That is fucking outrageous.
Womp womp
If they just gave me the money instead I bet you I could turned it into a million taxable dollars by now
