The "median" is not the most common--that's the "mode". The median age is the one where half the deaths were lower and half were higher. But yeah, it's shockingly high. permalink save report block reply ▲ 1 ▼ – Tellman125 [S] 1 point 235 days ago +1 / -0 See for yourself: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/life-expectancy.htm https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6928e1.htm https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid_weekly/index.htm Men: 76.3 Women: 81.4 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy permalink save report block reply ▲ -1 ▼ – deleted -1 points 235 days ago +1 / -2 ▲ 0 ▼ – Tellman125 [S] 0 points 235 days ago +1 / -1 Right, I'm talking about from birth, not from age 78. permalink parent save report block reply ▲ -1 ▼ – deleted -1 points 235 days ago +1 / -2 ▲ 0 ▼ – Tellman125 [S] 0 points 235 days ago +1 / -1 Why are you adding some different meaning to it? The average age of death for Americans is 78, and the median age of Americans who die of Covid is 78. permalink parent save report block reply ▲ 0 ▼ – deleted 0 points 235 days ago +1 / -1 ▲ 0 ▼ – Tellman125 [S] 0 points 235 days ago +1 / -1 Being born in America, I can expect to die at about 78, and I wouldn't be worried about dying of Covid until I was about 78, and actually it could be Covid or anything else, because 78 is the average age of death for Americans anyway! permalink parent save report block reply ▲ 1 ▼ – deleted 1 point 235 days ago +1 / -0

Right, I'm talking about from birth, not from age 78.
Why are you adding some different meaning to it? The average age of death for Americans is 78, and the median age of Americans who die of Covid is 78.
Being born in America, I can expect to die at about 78, and I wouldn't be worried about dying of Covid until I was about 78, and actually it could be Covid or anything else, because 78 is the average age of death for Americans anyway!
