"Home schooling is the only way," is my advice to parents. It is a statement that recognizes how low the public school system has fallen. If you are the home-schooled kid and you recognize that your parents don't have the knowledge or skills to teach you, then you need to become responsible for your own education. As individuals, we should all strive to become independent learners but I think good parents should be doing everything they can to avoid sending their children to public schools.

No it's not. That's frankly defeatist bullshit. The right answer is to put in the work to find non-commie candidates for your local school board, and do everything you can to help them win. If we surrender our school systems to communism, we lose.

One to four years? Don't you mean fifteen to twenty years?

Ending the taxes which fund public schools might be a way forward.

Homeschooling is the future. I have 2 homeschooled kids and one foster kid doing e-learning from charter school because of covid. My wife is surprised at how little learning is taking place with e-learning. The school model is antiquated and is just an indoctrination station.

Lol no. its called taking your kids education into your own hands. Like a responsible parent.

muh voting for school board members wont change what the teachers drill into your kids brains in school. Our public schools are already entirely communist SJW breeding grounds. Colleges are leftist factories aswell. How do you not get this?

Unionized public school is socialist school; its better to have your kid just read the book at home and watch Kahn Acadamy on youtube while they figure it out for themselves than the quality of schooling public school provides. It really is just daycare, that now gives unfireable strangers and pedo's unvetted access to your children.

Fight hard for Charter Schools the only public schooling regiment that puts the children's results first.

Hunker down and get ready to fight for your home schooling. They're coming for it.

Bunkers and off-grid living have never been so appealing...

I’m going through upvoting comments and then I look at the name of the commenter. At least twice in the last little bit the upvoted comment was yours. I like the cut of your jib, pede. 🍻

I am unironically making plans for moving out of the city and living off the grid.

Realize that not all of us are that way. Overall, we don't have TDS nor ADS; haven't grabbed our crotches since we were 5 and needed to go potty; have no desire to wear Carole Baskin-in-training get up (seriously, what is up with the wall-to-wall tiger motif there? probably something Freudian no doubt).

Most are lefties, sure. But not all.

Private schools tend to control this better.

Rural publics schools also don't tend to have this problem, because lefties don't want to live there for the most part.

The problem for teachers is this: the number of raging lefties in the urban areas (that get the most press) is huge; so too are the number of raging lefties at the conferences/state board of education/writing the papers/running the teacher's colleges. And, they tend to be most vociferous (conservative and now even moderate teachers tend to not call attention to themselves -- even one or two raging lefties at a school will cause problems for you).

Teacher of the year here bragged about her pitbulls, and stealing a car at 14 years old. Her name was Ms. Brown 4th grade. 1st grade teacher from same school called me after 10pm saying she was going over my son's grades in bed. She wore thigh high latex boots to work. She had taught on the college level. Why was she teaching 1st grade in the ghetto? Stay classy Fort Worth Texas. My kids are out. The hype of school blinds parents. Home school. Fort Worth is not a place to raise a family if you cannot afford private school.

You're probably right. She just looks stupid...and like a cat lady in training.

Do you have kids?

I'm wondering the same thing. I moved to a more rural area over an hour away from where I work because it's a more conservative area and the public schools are actually good. Homeschooling and private schools aren't realistic for the majority of blue collar families in 2020.

Everyone who was "proficient" in school that I knew growing up had to inherit their homes or else theyd be homeless. The rest are living stacked like cord wood in a 3bdrm apartment. They all have the same story - school was a complete waste of life.

augustinius 5 points ago +5 / -0

Schools are designed to accommodate the lowest common denominator -- the kids who are utterly incapable for one reason or another of learning on their own.

School is a waste of time for anyone who can read chapter books by 2nd grade.

I got into college thinking "finally I get to be challenged." Instead the class I most cared about was 3/4ths nurses taking it as an elective then whining that the material was too difficult for them.

3
augustinius 3 points ago +3 / -0

Taught college for a while. Nursing students were easily the whiniest. I think it's bc they know they aren't smart enough to be doctors, nor are their classes as difficult as doctors' classes, yet they struggle so much with them anyway.

At the same time, nurses are the sergeants with boots on the ground while doctors are the asshole bluebloods.

Fabius 2 points ago +2 / -0

I tend to agree.

The courses in college that I liked most were the courses where the professor would lecture for an hour about something really interesting. New professors can't do that because they're stupid, so they assign "group projects" and you end up sitting there listening to 4 retards ramble about things they don't understand. Those classes are a huge waste of time and literally remember nothing from them.

All that said, the education that has stuck with me over the years didn't come from college. It was being taught to read and write by my mother and to think by my father.

Everything else that was worth knowing I learned through my own study.

You also need to be able to save for retirement or try to save for your kids college if you can afford it (after you allocate a certain percentage of your income to retirement).
