I almost got sick when someone called Austin "Portland's sister city."

They're taking the Texas out of Texas.

92
MentalyStable 92 points ago +93 / -1

They are raping Texas, the land and its people. These “transplants” are no better than illegals. They just happen to be Americans with shit politics. Remember where people come from when asking them. Make note.

Texans need to speak up against retards who move in. They need to remember where they moved to and who's in charge.

70
magnifiscent 70 points ago +73 / -3

These “transplants” are no better than illegals

I'd argue they are far worse than illegals because they actually have a right to vote.

22
OrenthalJamesObama 22 points ago +22 / -0

And they vote to attract illegals with sanctuary city policies. So it’s the worst possible outcome.

5
SordidPontification 5 points ago +5 / -0

"Worst of both worlds."

18
MentalyStable 18 points ago +18 / -0

You are not wrong.

2
king_madigan 2 points ago +2 / -0

You think illegals don't vote? That's cute.

1
magnifiscent 1 point ago +2 / -1

they actually have a right to vote.

Reading for key details is something they used to teach in school.

TheThreeSeashells 41 points ago +41 / -0

Texas needs to institute the state-level electoral college system for state-wide elections that they're pushing. If it can be implemented now, but they better hurry before the Left gets anymore of a foothold in the state. We know this is a great idea because the Left is REEEEEING about it, falsely claiming that it's unconstitutional. (States have all sorts of election systems set up. This would just be a different one.) They're also probably worried other states will catch on and the swarms of Leftist locusts will be stopped from destroying other states.

14
MentalyStable 14 points ago +14 / -0

I agree. These people left their shit states and will make Texas shit if they don't actually assimilate.

There is more to this than “oops, guess ill move and live here now”.

Everything is getting more tribal because of this. Im starting to believe leftists are not redeemable.

15
TheThreeSeashells 15 points ago +15 / -0

Im starting to believe leftists are not redeemable.

I reached that point a long time ago. This is why the state-level electoral colleges must be implemented. If a child keeps sticking Legos up their nose, you don't keep giving them Legos. If morons want to keep taking freedom away and making more places unlivable, you take those options away from them.

It has to be made so that the good places made good by better policies and people are unattractive to the Left. Knowing they can't simply overwhelm the population and take over by sheer numbers is the best way to achieve that goal. The Left never wins on their policies or ideas. The idea of "Turning Texas Blue" isn't based on saying, "We'll convince them our ideas are better." It's based on saying, "We'll just ship in enough people who already agree with us to outnumber everyone else. If that doesn't work, we'll sue."

6
MentalyStable 6 points ago +6 / -0

Agreed. However I doubt they are smart enough to smell their own shit. At this point it smells good to them. Hence the non-redeemable comment I made. Just make sure you have a backup plan. Meaning, buy lots of ammo.

4
patriotic-noodle 4 points ago +4 / -0

I honestly don't know why our founders didn't implement a state-wide electoral college system. The state is simply a micro nation and mirrors the same circumstances.

It's completely fucked the NYC has ruled all of New York since the beginning of time. That is neither fair or equitable for anyone.

6
Cyer6 6 points ago +6 / -0

Except all the people I know in my neighborhood that came from out of state are ALL based as fuck. They have flags on their yards and guess what, the looney lefties I've met are native Texans.

5
MentalyStable 5 points ago +5 / -0

Really? Then thats a good thing. Ill take “based transplants” over commies any day.

6
N7fury 6 points ago +6 / -0

We can petition our state government to amend the state constitution. Don't they want to do the reverse on the federal level?

22
DoYouBelieveInMAGA 22 points ago +22 / -0

North Carolin, too.

South Carolina isn't far behind, either. We're one of the top states for NY and NJ transplants right now. So Texas gets Cali transplants, the Carolinas get NY/NJ transplants.

12
dakin116 12 points ago +12 / -0

Moved there from TN a few years back, couldn't believe how many Blue/Gold NY license plates I would see. Moved out pronto. The locals (those left anyway) fucking hated it

My ex lives in NC. Didn't take her long to start being influenced by the leftist retards in the city in spite of identifying as "conservative." Within a year, I noticed her questions started to show a growing ignorance of the political climate. I gathered she became increasingly more ashamed to identify as a conservative.

Then she started dating a snowflake who was grossly offended by my pro-Trump texts. Sad, but not unexpected. The state is a damn disaster. I do hope he cries himself to sleep at night because her exbf (me) was "such a big meanie who loves orange man."

(Bonus for me though--I've got a choice of based women from church.)

19
bidenhasthebiggay 19 points ago +20 / -1

We need to implement state level passports. Or build walls around yankees and californians.

I've just about mcfuckin had it with these retards moving down here.

10
FOREVERKAG 10 points ago +10 / -0

Our governor is acting more and more like one of them every day! Used to be Texas was the standard for liberty. Not so much any more. Prez said in his presser yesterday that all states need to open up, including red states. They are trying too hard to satisfy the woke herd.

3
Cyer6 3 points ago +3 / -0

I've been railing on that PIECE of SHIT for months. Abbott has recently tried to pivot some of the hatred coming at him over shutdowns and mask orders with "Back the Blue" stuff. He's also got some goofball medical advisor who sounds like FauXi 2.0. That asshat sounds like he wants to keep the state shutdowns and masks in effect indefinitely. I hope a few of these thousands of lawsuits filed around the state start getting resolved and making it to our based state supreme court soon.

4
SordidPontification 4 points ago +4 / -0

I think these advisors are just leftist plants at this point.

Change my mind.

31
PatPede1 31 points ago +35 / -4

Thankfully there is still one stopgap between Austin and Portland. Greg Abbott. Lose him and Austin is truly f'd. Austin loves to imitate any new progressive policy dreamed up in San Fran, Seattle or Portland. They used to be the weird cousin in the corner, now they are controlling the levers of government in Austin. The guy that won the dem primary for DA is a "Progressive." The Republican candidate for and office in Travis County is usually a sacrificial lamb...maybe this time it will be different. Snowball meets hell is sadly the most likely outcome.

If I'm not mistaken, he called out Abbott on the mask order, so I'm inclined to agree. Ken Paxton is also a strong contender in my mind, but I need to look into both of them a bit more.

Even in Texas, you can no longer trust someone with an (R) next their name.

My mayor has got to go, too.

13

OR we make it very clear that he will not win and if the republicans in this state want to keep a republican governor, they better primary abbott's dumb ass.

I'm not voting for Abbott. Either he loses the primary or he loses the general. I'll let the republicans decide which.

8

11

2

if Austin defunds their police force, Gov Abbott & AG Paxton have said the state will take over local law enforcement there. So Austin ain't lost yet! Then it only becomes a matter of time before we see the local DA and ADAs and Mayor-city counsel frog-marched out of office there. Texas will not play nice with these stinking socialist for too much longer!

But it was more "libertarian individualism" than Marxist.

4

Is it? We've been eyeing Tennessee as a potential state to relocate to from California. I figured Tennessee would be a based state. Is it just Nashville?

12
Libertysheimdall1 12 points ago +12 / -0

Big cities are all blue. It's just a fact. Memphis and Nashville are hopeless. The rest of the state is A-OK.

2
dakin116 2 points ago +2 / -0

Knoxville is blue in the city. The county has reasonably based Kane as mayor. The city mayor is a masked shill from NoVA though

8
MrTeezyForSheezy 8 points ago +8 / -0

My woman is going to hate me for saying this publicly, but Chattanooga is beyond awesome. If you're truly based, you should definitely consider it.

8
escaped_from_nyc 8 points ago +8 / -0

Tennessee is amazing, but Nashville is slowly becoming a shit hole of uncontrolled spending.

Big thing right now, is due to the city losing on tons of tax revenue from tourism because the city is shut down, and because of massively increasing spending on homeless and lazy, the politicians decided the best way to solve the issue is a 34% increase on property taxes. There was a petition to add to the ballot a rejection of that tax, so the government declared that if the new tax was rejected, then instead of reducing spending on welfare, they would cut police and other first responders.

Within the city though, there's plenty of based people; way more density-wise than I ever met in NYC. Tons of small family-owned restaurants still fly US flags and offer military and first responder discounts. Outside downtown and my job's office, I very rarely see no guns allowed signs (note they have force of law in TN). Churches are hit or miss; few I've been to are hyper-progressive "Jesus was a communist" types, while others are more family-orientated moderate conservative.

5
annieS 5 points ago +5 / -0

TN as a whole is based. It's Nashville and Memphis that aren't.

5
RobezTobez 5 points ago +5 / -0

4
rossiFan 4 points ago +4 / -0

4
TNpedefosho 4 points ago +4 / -0

I visited Austin for the first time in years recently. They were showing puppet porn in one of the bars all while espousing “keep Austin weird”.

I got back to Chattanooga and saw a bumper sticker saying “keep Chattanooga weird”. I’m doing everything in my power to make sure it doesn’t turn into a little Austin shithole

1
Cyer6 1 point ago +1 / -0

I live outside of Austin but spent some of my youth in Colorado. Austin reminds me of a large Boulder, CO. Or at least the Boulder I remember.

52
mrh218 52 points ago +52 / -0

This mayor is promising a devastating cut to first responders if citizens push back on the 35+% property tax hike. It looks like there will be a special election in December where residents can vote for a 2% increase instead.

Meanwhile, city employees were never furloughed or asked to cut pay to save any money while Mayor Cooper put business owners on the street.

Oh, and tax revenues are up this year compared to last year except for all the businesses that were closed by the stupid mayor.

EDIT: Tennessee State tax revenues are up. Nashville hasn't been very open with their revenue numbers as they are asking the State for additional funding. The city's revenue may actually be down sine they have been closed compared to the rest of the state.

17
Libertysheimdall1 17 points ago +17 / -0

Democrats destroy everything they touch. They are a pestilence, a plague. Nashville is merely another in a long line of victims.

3
ThurstonHowell3rd 3 points ago +3 / -0

If you think about it, the Democrats require that there be destruction otherwise they wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

To put it another way, Republicans award success, and Democrats cater to failure. Without a voting demographic that feels like they have been given a raw deal, the Democrats wouldn't have a party at all. That's why they continue to tell people that it's not their fault that they have failed - it's the fault of the successful "cheaters" in the country.

2
Libertysheimdall1 2 points ago +2 / -0

Correct. Democrats run on the fuel of despair, envy, pain, suffering. But they (at least their politicians) don't want to solve the problems. Otherwise they would be out of job.

Republicans run on the fuel of progress, family, success. We design systems of rules to encourage good behavior and discourage bad, and then let the system go. And if we are not needed then, because the clockwork is running perfectly, so much the better.

3

I am glad I moved out of Davidson County, but I still work and own property (which he's trying to increase the tax on by fucking 34%) and I totally hate this son of a bitch. Starts every day by tweeting (in English and Spanish of course) with the new case total. So it's just some giant number like 25000 or whatever every day. This is also not the first time we've had issues with reporting here.

Sounds like a scamdemic to me. The goal was never about keeping people safe. The goal was about destroying the economy and getting as many people in financial difficulty as possible. The masks Are about creating an appearance of danger and fear over a pandemic.

Take off masks, open up America. Get colleges in person, schools every age in person, youth sports and college sports up and running with fans in the stands. The Class of 2020 got screwed out of proms, spring sports, graduations...for a virus the vast majority of people recover from. So much for Fifteen days to Flatten the Curve.

China was mad at Trump. China and the liberals conspired. I guarantee it.

52
kekkk 52 points ago +53 / -1

This is what I've been saying....

This is a massive scam and psyop and people should be fucking livid about what is happening.

It blows my mind that Liberal's hatred for Trump is so deep that they are willing to watch businesses, the economy, everything basically go out the window, and they will defend China in doing so.

31
TheLion 31 points ago +31 / -0

One of the hardest things to do as a human is to be honest with yourself and admit when you've been believing a lie. I genuinely believe there are people out there that have realized the lie, but they cannot let it go. I believe this quote by Slim Charles from the Wire, "Don't matter who did what to who at this point. Fact is, we went to war and now there ain't no goin' back. I mean ... If it's a lie, then we fight on that lie." is where many of them are.

They'd rather live in a lie than admit POTUS has been right.

15
ravonaf 15 points ago +15 / -0

This is why war is inevitable. We would rather die than give up our rights. They would rather die than let us be free. The ONLY way out of this is if everyone suddenly had confidence in the rule of law and in our elections. As it stands the ballot and the jury boxes are both compromised. That leaves one box left.

3
Sir_Doggo 3 points ago +3 / -0

I've worked with people like that. Apparently the shame of being "wrong" is to much to bear so instead they just double down on the lie.

16
TheThreeSeashells 16 points ago +16 / -0

people should be fucking livid about what is happening

This is my biggest problem. I don't think there are enough people who are mad. I even see it on this site. People saying, "Well, if we just shut up and wear the masks, this will be over soon." Yes...even six months after the initial "15 days to slow the spread" crap.

12
boxmakingmachines 12 points ago +12 / -0

It blows my mind that Liberal's hatred for Trump is so deep that they are willing to watch businesses, the economy, everything basically go out the window

Dude, it's incredible.

I know people who have been laid off and still haven't found steady work in their profession (lots of bartenders, servers, local musicians, etc), who are 100% on the Scandemic bandwagon.

It blows my mind.

3
Cyer6 3 points ago +3 / -0

That would be the great unemployment checks they were getting or were getting that basically doubled what they were making at those jobs.

17
ValleyForge 17 points ago +17 / -0

Yup the masks are a way to continue the fear. They want you to know when you step outside that there’s still a virus out there so they can continue to push cheat by mail.

10
HockeyMom4Trump 10 points ago +10 / -0

Yep. Minnesota has around 6,000 active cases right now, many asymptomatic, yet they continue the mandatory mask policy and keep pushing cumulative numbers to scare people.

7
Brucesky420 7 points ago +7 / -0

This is why there's been no transparency to the data. It's easier to manipulate everything if this data isn't public. I've been asking for months how these tests work. People who tested positive are tested multiple times. How many of those times get used more than once? And how are the recovery numbers decided? Many people who get just go home and stay home for 2 weeks. They don't get tested again, so how do they know "they recovered"

The whole thing was a mess, and it was once again the swamp creatures that run deep through all our agencies keeping this data out of the public's hands. And the MSM certainly didn't try to help to expose any of it

2
Cyer6 2 points ago +2 / -0

I got into a debate with my liberal doctor about this BS. She wanted me to get a diagnostic procedure done, which I'm due to have but they wanted me to get a Rona test before. I cancelled the whole thing telling them I'll wait until all this crazy BS is over. One county in our state had to remove over 4000+ false positive test cases and we all heard about the 70+ NFL players who tested positive, but when they got retested... "Oh look, they're all negative now so they can go ahead and play." And then you get a false positive and the next thing is you'll have these case trackers hunting you and everyone you've had contact with down. That could impact their lives and jobs.

I told my doctor I don't trust any of this shit and I'm not a tin foil hat conspiracy follower. The evidence is so overwhelming that it's fraught with fraud and deception.

In my opinion, urban areas lean so far to the left because they attract the weakest of the human species. In an urban area, you never have to do anything for yourself. You are always taken care of by someone else. You don’t have to even go to the grocery store anymore!

Outer ring suburban areas and rural areas are more conservative because a greater amount of responsibility and independence is necessary to survive.

Bunch of pussies who's parents never made them lift a finger for anything they wanted or spanked them when them threw a tantrum or did something wrong. I know Nashville seems the place to be for many contestants from The Bachelor.

7
Former_RM2 7 points ago +7 / -0

This is exactly what happened. Nashville has experienced a population explosion over the last twenty years, just like much of Texas, and especially over the last 10. People from the North East and Chicago have been moving therein huge numbers, sometimes at a rate of 100 a DAY .

You'll never guess why they are moving there. Low taxes. No state income tax and very low property tax combined with the Nashville culture have attracted these people in the 10s of thousands.

It hasn't stopped or even slowed down since Wuflu either. In fact, it seems like it has only sped up. The real estate market is ON FIRE right now. Houses sit on the market for maybe 3 days before they are sold, and they are getting multiple bids in that time.

What's the first thing they do when they get there? Vote D, of course.

That's why I moved.

6
escaped_from_nyc 6 points ago +6 / -0

very low property tax

Not for much longer if the Dems get their way. They're trying to raise the prop tax by 34% in Davidson county to offset lost tourism revenue from everything being shut down and increased welfare spending.

3
HockeyMom4Trump 3 points ago +3 / -0

There’s not a job I can get that doesn’t require a muzzle.

Not pretty decent.

MightyEighth 10 points ago +10 / -0

Fellow East Tennessee pede, I’ve seen more and more going without the face diapers. A little disappointed it took so long but at least people are starting to realize this will never end unless we make it!

2
Crlsniper 2 points ago +2 / -0

Went to Pigeon Forge over Labor Day the number of business trying to force the mask there blew my mind. They put out road work signs worshipping the mask everywhere too. I went there expecting to get away from this nonsense because the place is so protrump

3
escaped_from_nyc 3 points ago +3 / -0

If you're in the tourist areas, especially around a holiday, then yeah. The local places have the signs, but literally don't give two shits.

2
Crlsniper 2 points ago +2 / -0

Well that’s the thing I was forced to wear one more there than I have been in Nashville, a lot of the places we’re insanely aggressive with masks. Not all mind you, but I was shocked by how many stories and places went at me for it

2
escaped_from_nyc 2 points ago +2 / -0

A lot of the touristy areas are cucked to all hell there, because they want to virtue signal to all of the CA and NYCers who are there visiting to escape their own lockdowns. Then all the gun shops too have people from those places trying to buy guns, and being disappointed that the stores won't work with them, even for what could be a legal transfer of like a low-cap pump gun. Pigeon Forge and Sevierville are all sorts of fucked right now, and not even mostly their own fault.

I'm in the neighbouring county to Nashville...we never had a huge number of cases and our mayor said masks don't work so he never mandated anything....just a shiny example of how cucked Nashville has got in the last 20 years

This is never going to end. Ever. If a cure is ever found for this virus, the bureaucrats are simply going to move the goalposts.

9/11 was 19 years ago. The airports have never been given the all-clear from the TSA, and they never will. This will not be any different, because there are no clear objectives. We are being conditioned into accepting these "safety precautions" in some form or another, for the rest of our lives. And it's happening with very little resistance.

Government never gives back power. When are people going to learn this?

8
TheThreeSeashells 8 points ago +8 / -0

the bureaucrats are simply going to move the goalposts

I'm predicting that since they won't be able to mandate vaccines, they're going to force people to choose between vaccines or masks. This is how they will keep it going in perpetuity. I'm guessing they'll institute something like wristbands to indicate those who have received the vaccine. Naturally, as they've done already, this will ignore the 99.98% of people who have already had it and have natural antibodies, don't need the vaccine and will be pointlessly forced to wear the masks.

The only recourse is for good people to say enough and just stop with the mask bullshit. It's pathetic how many people have been willing to give up their freedom.

2
NocturnalPatrol 2 points ago +2 / -0

And they're also going to get around the "medical condition" exception. It'll be just like parking in a handicapped spot. You will be required to get a verification from a doctor, and carry the documentation with you everywhere.

3
TheThreeSeashells 3 points ago +3 / -0

carry the documentation with you everywhere.

Sound familiar?

We now know this is true after the ruling by Judge William Stickman in the case in Pennsylvania against their tyrant Governor. The Governor's chief of staff testified that the restrictions would never end; they would simply be replaced with other restrictions. Making a mandatory vaccine is likely what they had in mind. Following that will be, "Well, we know that vaccines are never 100% effective" so there will be even more restrictions and rulings even after they'll falsely claim that the vaccine will "end the restrictions."

2
NocturnalPatrol 2 points ago +2 / -0

the restrictions would never end; they would simply be replaced with other restrictions

And that is exactly what is going to happen.

3
Cyer6 3 points ago +3 / -0

The only problem the dems have by maintaining this scam is that it's crushing their tax revenues. Hollywood isn't working or generating revenue. Other entertainment venues are the same. The left loves tax revenue and when they can't fund anything they value, it will impact this narrative. This is all about the election and that LA health director confirmed it when she was caught on tape saying regular school activities can resume "after the election."

1
NocturnalPatrol 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's why I included the disclaimer "in some form or another." Airport and event security will be taking our temperature for the rest of time. Businesses will have self-screening for employees, and "safety" protocols like sanitizing high hand traffic surfaces, for the rest of time. And never underestimate the ability of unelected bureaucrats to come up with other creative ways to inconvenience us.

This is our life now, and we have no recourse. We allowed it.

9
booblitchutz 9 points ago +9 / -0

34%? How is that legal?

5
Sky_RPL 5 points ago +5 / -0

The phrasing is a bit misleading. It's not 34% in the sense that it went from something like 10% to 44%, but in that it went from $3.155 to $4.221 per $100 of assessed value.

Regardless though, it still massively fucks over small businesses who suddenly face increased property taxes or rent while the same government is forcing them to keep their physical business closed.

3
booblitchutz 3 points ago +3 / -0

I understand that and still I am confounded that this is legal.

The tax hikes in Nashville won’t apply to Williamson County.

Franklin & Brentwood are great places to raise a family, as are many places in the counties surrounding Metro Nashville-Davidson County. It depends on the neighborhood, obviously, but the good far outweighs the bad.

Williamson County arguably has the best public schools in the state, and there are many private/religious options.

Destruction and death are coming for all of this, like every other good thing in America, unless we stop it.

Trump can satisfy people who are merely skeptical. it's the never-Trumpers who don't care

He’s a professional political pundit. I don’t think Shapiro’s policy positions gel with mine at all. Shapiro is more like Bush or Romney.

There's a misconception that the tar used is the same stuff we use on roads. In days of yore they used pine tar, which is liquidy and sticky. It was commonly used on ships. It doesn't need to be heated up to be viscose, so the application of pine tar and then feathers was for the purpose of humiliating the victim, rather than causing life-threatening injuries.

Lots of stuff going on in Nashville right now, some people have begun to resist Democrat fascism after the 37% property tax increase. The citizens referendum on taxes has been certified, but Dems are fighting it tooth and nail.

What Dems are REALLY Pissed about though, isn’t the taxes, it is hidden in a small blurb at the end the newspaper article.

The referendum would require that ANY payment of $25,000 or more to any “non-partisan political organizations” would be subject to Open Records laws and audits. It has the lefty’s SCREAMING, this is how they make their cash.
