I almost got sick when someone called Austin "Portland's sister city."

They're taking the Texas out of Texas.

They are raping Texas, the land and its people. These “transplants” are no better than illegals. They just happen to be Americans with shit politics. Remember where people come from when asking them. Make note.

Texans need to speak up against retards who move in. They need to remember where they moved to and who's in charge.

I'd argue they are far worse than illegals because they actually have a right to vote.

Texas needs to institute the state-level electoral college system for state-wide elections that they're pushing. If it can be implemented now, but they better hurry before the Left gets anymore of a foothold in the state. We know this is a great idea because the Left is REEEEEING about it, falsely claiming that it's unconstitutional. (States have all sorts of election systems set up. This would just be a different one.) They're also probably worried other states will catch on and the swarms of Leftist locusts will be stopped from destroying other states.

North Carolin, too.

South Carolina isn't far behind, either. We're one of the top states for NY and NJ transplants right now. So Texas gets Cali transplants, the Carolinas get NY/NJ transplants.

We need to implement state level passports. Or build walls around yankees and californians.

I've just about mcfuckin had it with these retards moving down here.

Our governor is acting more and more like one of them every day! Used to be Texas was the standard for liberty. Not so much any more. Prez said in his presser yesterday that all states need to open up, including red states. They are trying too hard to satisfy the woke herd.

Thankfully there is still one stopgap between Austin and Portland. Greg Abbott. Lose him and Austin is truly f'd. Austin loves to imitate any new progressive policy dreamed up in San Fran, Seattle or Portland. They used to be the weird cousin in the corner, now they are controlling the levers of government in Austin. The guy that won the dem primary for DA is a "Progressive." The Republican candidate for and office in Travis County is usually a sacrificial lamb...maybe this time it will be different. Snowball meets hell is sadly the most likely outcome.

if Austin defunds their police force, Gov Abbott & AG Paxton have said the state will take over local law enforcement there. So Austin ain't lost yet! Then it only becomes a matter of time before we see the local DA and ADAs and Mayor-city counsel frog-marched out of office there. Texas will not play nice with these stinking socialist for too much longer!

I hate Abbott and would never vote for him over another Republican. But he is better then a Leftist. Abbott is naive and weak - but there is a difference between that and being vindicative (Romney) or evil (Pelosi).

Austin was always different. Grew up there. No nudity laws. Women topless at Barton Springs.

But it was more "libertarian individualism" than Marxist.

Unfortunately it has morphed.

Is it? We've been eyeing Tennessee as a potential state to relocate to from California. I figured Tennessee would be a based state. Is it just Nashville?

Libertysheimdall1 12 points ago +12 / -0

Big cities are all blue. It's just a fact. Memphis and Nashville are hopeless. The rest of the state is A-OK.

2
dakin116 2 points ago +2 / -0

Knoxville is blue in the city. The county has reasonably based Kane as mayor. The city mayor is a masked shill from NoVA though

MrTeezyForSheezy 8 points ago +8 / -0

My woman is going to hate me for saying this publicly, but Chattanooga is beyond awesome. If you're truly based, you should definitely consider it.

Tennessee is amazing, but Nashville is slowly becoming a shit hole of uncontrolled spending.

Big thing right now, is due to the city losing on tons of tax revenue from tourism because the city is shut down, and because of massively increasing spending on homeless and lazy, the politicians decided the best way to solve the issue is a 34% increase on property taxes. There was a petition to add to the ballot a rejection of that tax, so the government declared that if the new tax was rejected, then instead of reducing spending on welfare, they would cut police and other first responders.

Within the city though, there's plenty of based people; way more density-wise than I ever met in NYC. Tons of small family-owned restaurants still fly US flags and offer military and first responder discounts. Outside downtown and my job's office, I very rarely see no guns allowed signs (note they have force of law in TN). Churches are hit or miss; few I've been to are hyper-progressive "Jesus was a communist" types, while others are more family-orientated moderate conservative.

TN as a whole is based. It's Nashville and Memphis that aren't.

5
RobezTobez 5 points ago +5 / -0

Its just that bubble downtown thats like that. The rest of my state isn't anything like it.

I was on Lake Travis for the 4th of July, and I saw a LOT of boats with huge TRUMP2020 flags streaming from the back.

I visited Austin for the first time in years recently. They were showing puppet porn in one of the bars all while espousing “keep Austin weird”.

I got back to Chattanooga and saw a bumper sticker saying “keep Chattanooga weird”. I’m doing everything in my power to make sure it doesn’t turn into a little Austin shithole

I live outside of Austin but spent some of my youth in Colorado. Austin reminds me of a large Boulder, CO. Or at least the Boulder I remember.

This mayor is promising a devastating cut to first responders if citizens push back on the 35+% property tax hike. It looks like there will be a special election in December where residents can vote for a 2% increase instead.

Meanwhile, city employees were never furloughed or asked to cut pay to save any money while Mayor Cooper put business owners on the street.

Oh, and tax revenues are up this year compared to last year except for all the businesses that were closed by the stupid mayor.

EDIT: Tennessee State tax revenues are up. Nashville hasn't been very open with their revenue numbers as they are asking the State for additional funding. The city's revenue may actually be down sine they have been closed compared to the rest of the state.

Libertysheimdall1 17 points ago +17 / -0

Democrats destroy everything they touch. They are a pestilence, a plague. Nashville is merely another in a long line of victims.

3
ThurstonHowell3rd 3 points ago +3 / -0

If you think about it, the Democrats require that there be destruction otherwise they wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

To put it another way, Republicans award success, and Democrats cater to failure. Without a voting demographic that feels like they have been given a raw deal, the Democrats wouldn't have a party at all. That's why they continue to tell people that it's not their fault that they have failed - it's the fault of the successful "cheaters" in the country.

2
Libertysheimdall1 2 points ago +2 / -0

Correct. Democrats run on the fuel of despair, envy, pain, suffering. But they (at least their politicians) don't want to solve the problems. Otherwise they would be out of job.

Republicans run on the fuel of progress, family, success. We design systems of rules to encourage good behavior and discourage bad, and then let the system go. And if we are not needed then, because the clockwork is running perfectly, so much the better.

FuckTheFed1913 10 points ago +10 / -0

Our new mayor is a total chode. Ran as a fiscal conservative and has been anything but. I am glad I moved out of Davidson County, but I still work and own property (which he's trying to increase the tax on by fucking 34%) and I totally hate this son of a bitch. Starts every day by tweeting (in English and Spanish of course) with the new case total. So it's just some giant number like 25000 or whatever every day. This is also not the first time we've had issues with reporting here.
