I have family in Wilson County, which is basically eastern 'burbs of Nashville. They recommend Wilson or Williamson County, and say to avoid Davidson, Sumner and Cheatham.

Understand the WAF, so in addition to what I'm posting, I'd HIGHLY suggest you check out a number of areas and then see what the wife thinks of each.

Franklin and Brentwood are likely your front-runners for the "country/metro" mix. Will you be commuting downtown? If so, I-65 is the only real "quick" way to and from downtown if you're coming in from those two cities, so anything further south (Spring Hill, etc) will add even more commute time. Coming from years of dealing with Dallas and Chicago traffic, it's a joke to me when we encounter it, but you should be aware of it and also that there's no real public transportation system to speak of.

Schools are supposedly based and rank 9's and 10's depending on where you're zoned.

If you're looking in Wilson County, Mt. Juliet is growing rapidly which means there are some great and not so great areas, and the pricing is creeping up on Franklin/Brentwood ranges. You can get more land for your $$ if you go further east into Lebanon, but the WAF isn't as high for sure. Same question about commuting downtown applies, because while there "are" some alternative routes, I-40 is the main highway and it'll be backed up.

Schools are also supposedly based and rank 7's through 10's depending on where you're zoned.

All in all, it's a nice area with relatively mild temperatures, actual seasons and a relatively low cost of living. If you're into the outdoors, check out Radnor Lake and Natchez Trace. You're also close to Land Between the Lakes, a few hours from the Smokies, etc.

Plenty of historical stuff in the area as well, I think we see a new grey historical marker each time we visit. lol. One of the coolest places we've gone to is a mansion (near Spring Hill I believe) that was used as a field hospital during the Civil War and is now a farm-to-table restaurant.

Wife Acceptance Factor, but your definition works pretty well in this instance. 😉

Feel free to ping me if you have any questions that come up, we visit the area fairly often.
