Pretty easy. The left hates christianity, and 'conservatives and church' are joined at the hip. The bible says being gay is a sin so they naturally side more with the non-church side.

Personally I don't think being gay is any more a sin than cheating on a spouse or getting a divorce. I side more with the right because I have a lot of Libertarian views. The right shouldn't push 'conservative' so hard.
