Audit the public schools! Audit everyone who receives taxes and transparently inform the taxpayers where it all went at every level..

No, just fire every teacher that cant teach students. If less than 60% of your students don't graduate with passing marks, you're fired.

Same for the administration. If you are a principal, and your school doesn't graduate kids well enough, you're out.

We need both transparency AND accountability and hopefully a renewed local emphasis. Local communities should have input into the administrative priorities.

How in the fuck can you be in 8th grade and not know how to fucking READ?

TripleBlack 12 points ago +12 / -0

C'mon man! Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids!!

Kek_The_World 2 points ago +2 / -0

If you saw the way public school teach, I’m surprised ANY kid can read.

Education audit or health audit? Those schools are filled with lead paint and asbestos.

$30K per student but where does that money go? Like always. Follow the money. I would love to see a breakdown of how that money is spent.

Teacher pensions, and I am not kidding.

Choomguy 12 points ago +12 / -0

Thats pretty much every urban school. They think throwing money at the problem makes it go away.

They think throwing money at the problem makes it go away<

Welcome to the standard policy of the Democratic Party, and most of the Left in general. Use money, mostly other people's when possible.

N0Brakes 2 points ago +2 / -0

And give it to their friends. Look at the businesses sucking at the teat of democratic run governments. Bay bridge replacement in CA chinese materials AND labor.

1 for you, and 1 for me....

2 for you, and 1, 2 for me.....

3 for you, and 1, 2, 3 for me.....

Just... How? 23% is a ridiculous figure.

7
Trump4a3rdTerm 7 points ago +7 / -0

And Dems say the answer is to throw more money at the schools.

3
Food4thought 3 points ago +4 / -1

They also want to make college free. Essentially, they have done so with the federal loans that many people are simply not paying back.

3
thehacker4channel 3 points ago +3 / -0

Incentivizing failure at every level.

2
N0Brakes 2 points ago +2 / -0

And it goes to 6 figure administrators, not students.

4
whiskey_shitz 4 points ago +4 / -0

I bet 99% think America needs to be abolished though. They infiltrated our schools and created an army of morons while we weren't paying attention

TexSolo 4 points ago +4 / -0

So you’re saying we’re NOT spending enough money on the kids! That’s racist! We gotta raise taxes to make it more fair!!!!

SomeGuyOnTheInternet 4 points ago +4 / -0

This is why we need school vouchers.

30k? That's crazy dollars. That's premier private education money. In fact they can voucher that out spend half and keep the other half and still get a better education than what DC is providing.

2
Chick-fill-eh 2 points ago +2 / -0

They won't take it. They currently pocket more than that.

3
ArmyLady 3 points ago +3 / -0

And that is the ones who attend school . . .

Southern_Belle 3 points ago +3 / -0

I taught both my kids to read when they were preschoolers.

My son was reading and comprehending at an 8th and 9th grade level when he was in first grade.

Hard to imagine being in 8th grade and not being able to read.

2
Rubberbunnies 2 points ago +2 / -0

You have to try really hard to be this bad. It really didn’t take much for my six and four year old sons to learn how to read. My six year old currently enjoys Geronimo Stilton with no problems.

This has got to be more than parental neglect and a failing school, it stinks of deliberate sabotage of children to turn them into useless “adults” that are unemployable welfare drifters. The uneducated and poorly (Marxist) educated are also easier to control and use as destructive agitation pawns to achieve political goals... *looks at Portland *

I'd bet 77% of students come from homes with a single mother.

2
Cavalier21x 2 points ago +2 / -0

How in the fuck is this possible. Range of teacher salaries in DC is $50-85k, and the average classroom size is over 30 students. How much of a fucking bloated bureaucracy is that

1
peltast 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm curious how much the school administrators make.

2
ColbyP 2 points ago +2 / -0

Wait, what? Kids start learning to read when they're like 5. How the hell did you make it to 8th grade if you can't even read?

1
AGhost 1 point ago +1 / -0

Same in Milwaukee. Hood teachers just putting in their time. Why should they care? Parents keep having kids out of wedlock in single parent homes. They don't give a fuck about their kids. Politicians don't care about teacher safety, an MPS teacher got stabbed and they covered it up. The gang bangers are still going to school, often carrying weapons at school, when they should be in jail. But they aren't because juvenile judges handed down light sentences and all proceedings are confidential. You could fix the school but if the people are still trash you don't fix anything. Change the culture.

Time to END Red-For-ED.

Time to abolish the Federal Department of Education!

1
Kek_The_World 1 point ago +1 / -0

Hooked on phonics costs $23 on eBay. What the hell is wrong with schools? If they did nothing but use this in elementary school, the kids would be able to read.

1
peltast 1 point ago +1 / -0

28K per Administration. Other 2K is per Student.

1
Bramble 1 point ago +1 / -0

How can you possibly piss away that much money and get such bad results.

0
chimerapills 0 points ago +1 / -1

Can I have 30k per year to home school my children? I gauruntee they will be able to read.
