Fair point. Trump will only follow the law with his every action so there is something to this we don't see yet.

As a reminder, Trump DID send the congressman to a meeting with Assange - IIRC just after inauguration. So it is in play. Assange wants the info out in court, so if he spills the beans the pardon will be guaranteed.
