I’ve recently moved from an apartment to a house for the first time last year (thank you Trump economy) and I’ve avoided putting a yard sign up to avoid backlash from neighbors or the community (My wife is a teacher and you have to tread lightly with this stuff in the age of ‘cancel culture’ in the biggest liberal city in my state). We are in a VITAL swing state and I want to share the support to encourage others to do the same, but not sure if the backlash will be worth it.

Can anyone here offer me some advice?

My wife asked me to avoid controversial subjects when I was introduced to her coworker and her coworkers boyfriend

The boyfriend immediately started talking to me about how many guns he owns and how plans to vote Trump

I have an afro-latino associate who confided in me that he is considering voting for Trump because he is worried the media is trying to start a race war, and he doesn't think his race could win.

Sometimes you put up a flag and have more people rally around it than you'd think. The opposition wants you to fear scared and alone.

I would talk with your wife about it. There are certain school districts where not towing the party line can get you blacklisted. This is especially true in large urban districts.

Nice to hear your experiences, thank you 👌 I have an American Flag hanging at the front door as well as a couple American Flag styled pinwheels, so it should be apparent that patriots live here 🇺🇸 Unfortunately, it feels awful to fear for the repercussions of announcing that you support The President in your yard.

Sometimes you do need to use taqiya to safely infiltrate institutions

If in doubt just fly the flag. We all know it means a Republican lives there.

I will still rock my American Flag and flag-styled pinwheels at my house regardless 🇺🇸👍

Maybe put the sign in your window instead of yard. My neighborhood website has a huge debate going on right now on this. Several citizens have had their signs stolen or vandalized. The window option seems to be the only solution they can come up with

Yard signs for elections are temporary, I’m surprised there is any debate on using them. They are no different that holiday decorations.

Even though they are temporary, the repercussions of announcing support for Trump in the largest liberal metropolitan area in my state is bound to cause some kind of backlash. I wish we were in a country where we respected each other’s opinions and beliefs, but people have their property vandalized, lose their jobs, become ostracized from their peers, and in some cases are even assaulted for displaying this support.
