This literally was current science when Trump said it might be possible to inject a disinfectant. That's what the procedure was. Injecting an ultraviolet light into the infected area.
They do work effectively. We've been using them for several years. Some pathogens like C diff (Clostridioides difficile) take a very thorough cleaning to ensure they don't infect someone else. The UV light machines are great for that final action to accomplish that. They take some time (30 min to an hour), but it's well worth it. The smell in the rooms afterwards reminds me of ozone.
Thank you for giving me another reason to keep calling it coronavirus! Other reasons:
"CoViD" has never been applied to the common cold coronaviruses making it another step to link them.
Nurses are being taught to move away from using acronyms, plus this encourages HCW's (see what I did there? Healthcare workers) and labs to take it to the next level and abberviate it CV or CVD. Where does it stop?!
I already see the 19 being dropped.
If the 19 is dropped, we already have the term "cold" for it; instead of CoViD19 we should call it cold-19.

Cool. Let's just install these bulbs everywhere, and call it good. Hospitals and schools first.
These light sources can create ozone, not that that's a bad thing.
