It didn't at all. I have only gotten closer to many of my friends and family. It's actually been wonderful.

This out of everything in this thread makes me really happy. I know it's not the case for all people but my friends and family know my positions, and while they disagree with them, sometimes heatedly - they respect my position and know I know my stuff. It makes me happy to think the same thing is happening to you and you didn't "lose" anyone.
