Good point. I imagine it has more to do with men being stronger and more aggressive than women, also more likely to take risks, this in the context of crimes, will get you more time behind bars. Rape allegations, and child support incarceration are a real problem and probably make up some of that disparity.
Men commit more crime than women because they have more testosterone and have a flatter IQ distribution (meaning there are more smart and stupid men than women).
However, even for the same crime men get much longer sentences than women. There are studies on this.
It’s too bad we are not to explore all these nuances in cause and correlation with race and incarceration as we have just done with male/female disparities.

A man, white or black, can end up in jail only because of the simple word of a female accuser and with no evidence.
