FILL THE SEAT ASAP

That'll never happen before the election, but the stakes for this election just became even higher. Holy shit is a lot riding on it.

Edit, I was wrong maybe? Seems inauguration is always on same date?

Original post left for reference:

Ironically the left has shot themselves in the foot.

The new SCOTUS doesn't have to be sworn in before the next election, they only have to be sworn in before the next inauguration.

The left has been setting up so many voter laws to cause the election to get dragged on for so many weeks as they count ballots post-facto that they now have pushed the inauguration so far back that a new SCOTUS will have time to be confirmed.

They can't have both (They'll likely have neither)

Even if a replacement isn't nominated and confirmed, it's now a 4-4 tie if Roberts votes with the leftist wing of SCOTUS.

If that happens, it's a deadlock and the Circuit Court ruling will stand. Given how many positions have been filled by Trump in the past 3+ years, Republicans are in a much better position.

Spez, on further thought: I think this may strengthen the conservative wing of SCOTUS, because Roberts won't want a deadlock on a critical decision. He'll find some way to join the conservatives, especially if he doesn't like the Circuit Court's ruling.

the problem for Roberts is a name matching his appearing in Jeffery Epstein flight logs

which if it's one and the same, then they have black mail on him, but then too the white hats may also (and perhaps use it to cast Roberts as compromised when the occasion warrants)

And now that there is only 8 votes, would Roberts dare give us a HANGING TIE? That would make the Lower Courts ruling abide. I think he would have to go with the conservatives to make it 5-3, we can't have a 4-4 tie in the SCOTUS with so much on the line.

Read my post below about the Political Advantage this gives to the Republicans.

Inauguration will be on Jan 20. There is absolutely no way to push it back or forward.

On Jan 20 the Speaker of the House will become Acting President if neither Trump nor Biden are properly confirmed.

There is NOTHING stopping the Republicans from confirming a new justice either before Nov 3 or Jan 20, except their own idiocy - specifically Mitch's refusal to do so OR 3+ GOP Senators voting against.

Inauguration can’t be pushed back. It’s in the constitution. Pelosi could become interim President if votes aren’t done being counted by Jan 20.

She would also need to win her election.

I know! If McConnell does it and it succeeds it will give him his reelection and another 5 years for sure.

The stakes haven't changed. It's just accelerated a little bit.

No one in their right mind thought Ginsberg could last another 4 years. It was a given that the next President would nominate her replacement.

I don't think this helps us in the election. Conservatives are already motivated to vote based on SCOTUS appointments. Liberals now have an extra motivation to vote. I think this might - on balance - be more favorable to the Commies getting their NPC's to vote. Too bad she didn't hold on until after the election.

I think it may bring out more conservatives and conservative-leaning moderates.

Hiden promised to release his list of potential nominees, and never followed through. This will put more pressure on him.

But, his past words will inevitably catch up with him: his "short list" was "black women".

No, I'm not kidding. That's not going to play well outside the hard left.

No filibuster, simple majority in the Senate. Somebody send Mitt to a small island in the Pacific.

But what if Cruz is the nominee? He can't vote for himself, can he?

TommyLasordasBallBag 5 points ago +5 / -0

Pence can vote for him if I recall

I dunno, Amy Coney Barrett wasn't on Trump's latest list. I don't know what changed, she was on the final-four list last time.

Cruz has already said he isn't interested.

Governor Abbott would hopefully appoint someone to vote for him, but there's no way in hell he makes it through due to the amount of RINOs in the senate.
