No way they start before the election though.

They are doing EVERYTHING they can to stop it. Using precedent with Garland. BUT, the difference is we have a MAJORITY in the senate!

73
mateus 73 points ago +73 / -0

Right. But that's not a binding precedent. Does anyone think the Dems wouldn't do the same thing if things were reversed? Oh wait....they DID try that. And lost because they didn't have the votes.

Republicans DO now, and need to start using the power they have.

Always count on republicans to use muh principles and wait it out till next term. I hate spineless rinos

TearofLys 20 points ago +20 / -0

The dems would absolutely try to ram someone through. In the past few decades, Republicans have nearly surrendered all that is America because we thought the other side believed in fair play. They don't. As such, we should play hardball likel they do.

As if Senate Republicans are some reliable voting bloc. There will be 3-4 who dissent for some reason or another.

Right. Democrats are letting the country burn to get their way already. Why should we bow to mob violence? Already the media cucks are clutching their pearls about leftist violence if Trump was to push through a SCOTUS. Don’t they realize that is their playbook on all things now that it has been normalized with the Floyd bullshit

Also Obama was an outgoing President, this is a slam dunk.

starl1te 4 points ago +4 / -0

I'm not worried about THEM. there is literally nothing they can do to stop it.

The problem is you need pretty much all the GOP senators to vote yes, if a few turn traitor we're boned unless there is somehow a larger GOP majority after the elections.

Bingo! And its part of being president. For the full term, he can do it. And its gonna make their heads implode. I love it!!!

Yah don’t hold your breathe for a majority of republican senators to vote in a justice.

6
artarious 6 points ago +6 / -0

Romney was never a republican to begin with. But I see him voting yes in order to get some favors in I am sure.

I think Murkowski indicated she wouldn't, but she can have her arm twisted. For instance, Mitch could tell her that iIf she doesn't do this, she won't get help iin her next election and her primary challenger would get the backing instead.. Also, the pick would probably have to be a touch more moderate (like Trump's first two picks). Unfortunately it will have to be some moderate that the fence-sitters can tolerate.

The reason they have so much power even now is because when they are in control, they are remorseless and ruthless.

The only answer to such a foe is to be even more remorseless and ruthless.

See: US vs Imperial Japan -- We won because we pushed them and we pushed them HARD. C'mon, people, remember what your HS football coaches said: BE AGGRESSIVE.

Murkowski said she won't vote until after the next POTUS is sworn in. I will bet Romney, Collins, Sasse and Burr will also not vote.

I hate to say it...but a 6-3 Conservative SCOTUS is even better than another 4 years of Trump. (Not that I wouldn't prefer both).

I can guarantee you if this happened with a Democrat president with a conservative judge dying so close to election day, they will 100% DO IT. NOW IT'S OUR TURN TO SCREW THESE CUCK DEMOCRATS UP!

4
TrumpTrain 4 points ago +4 / -0

Why is it even a problem to do it? It’s their duty to appoint a new judge. Why delay and allow the opposition the opportunity?
