9/15/2020 was not at all unusual. For 13 hours the Diablo Canyon nuclear plant supplied more power to the California grid than all the connected wind and solar sources combined.

lefty energy policy-create problems that dont exist so they can waste money and regulate more problems into existence that they wont fix so they can demagogue manufactured problems that they can then blame on republicans
and so on, and so on...
It’s already going to be shut down. They aren’t renewing the permits. It’s done in a couple years. I believe it has two running units. The original plan was for eight. And it is one of the most beautiful plants in the country. Incredible view. Nuclear energy is CLEAN and the most POWERFUL. fuck leftists. They hate humanity.
central coast pede?
No I work in the industry. Make product for and do service in plants.
Yes and the big cooling towers are full of green sludge. Thanks Simpsons.
It's just water. The heated water used in the process is fed into the towers which are very tall. It's to give the steam the best chance to condense. They are just used to conserve water so it can be reused.
My sister is based and a good woman, but also believes nuclear energy is bad because of bill fucking nye.
Oh god not Bill Nye. What happened to him? He used to be so good in the 90's, now he's a dried-up raisin with science based on popular opinion. What happened?
It is no secret that green energy in its current forms will never be able to replace fossil fuels and nuclear energy.
Prematurely taking down Diablo Canyon is one of the most anti-environment things CA can do, other than deliberately not maintaining forests.
KEEP DIABLO CANYON OPEN.
Nuclear is the real deal, renewables are a joke.
Absolutely beautiful.
Its already being shut down. Its like 20 miles from where I live. Theyre planning on shutting it down within 10 years.
This plus the screwup of San Onofre by idiot execs at Southern California Edison really puts that state in a bad spot. Contrary to a previous post a week or so back, San Onofre was screwed up by its owner company -- they had to replace major components that were worn out (steam generators) but went with third-party parts instead of OEM. The third-party parts had serious flaws, and so they closed the plant rather than going back to the OEM, buying parts, and doing the whole thing all over again.
The whole thing is already kind of sus. There are a lot of questions that are still unanswered about San Onofre, and also about how California, instead of demolishing the plant, can just buy two brand new reactors that produce roughly the same or slightly more for the same cost of demolition.
