There are multiple GOP senators who will not want to vote on a replacement before the election and doing so may turn voters away from Trump. Personally I think the plan was always for her to retire (or die) a few weeks before the election to motivate Dem turnout. She probably kicked off a bit earlier than planned despite the ventilator.

But a replacement can be voted in before the Inauguration.
Well, that’s an interesting point I hadn’t thought of. So you’re saying that if Biden wins, then Trump and the GOP Senate could put through a new nominee. Maybe. But it’s still hard for me to believe that some of the GOP senators like Collins or Graham will go along with that. I guess Collins is up this year and if she loses, she has nothing to lose and if she wins there’s 6 years for people to forget. Romney too...would he cooperate?
I think Romney's vote on anything will be based on how best to hurt Trump.
He’s the new McCain.
Murkowski already said she won’t vote “before election day.” So this might be consistent with your strategy.
Yes! More important than Trump election
I don’t disagree with this, but most GOP senators value their jobs more than a SC majority. Heck many of them would vote for the Dem side if the media will say nice things about them.
The whole thing smells like a false flag attack. She was either dead long ago and announced now or just pulled of the ventilator in time for elections.
Old lady with cancer. Not a big mystery, nor unusual.
BS! Do it now! Strike while iron is hot!!
Give them a choice, you get a woman before the election or Ted after the election. How important is R v W to ya?
Well, I do think Trump could try to swing a deal for a more moderate selection in exchange for the Dems scaling back a lot of their election cheating strategies. Trump would bargain for the election for sure.
