Guess what happened in Alabama? Republican governor Bentley appointed Luther Strange to take Sessions' place. There was an election and Strange got primaried by nutjob Roy Moore. Now Alabama has a Democratic Senator. Stuff happens. Don't upset the balance more by plucking someone out of the Senate.
We are so thin in the Senate (thanks, Jeff Sessions) that he needs to find someone NOT in the Senate.
