As a red guy in a very blue area of a supposedly blue state (more fixable than the general public realizes) who tries to stay neutral and professional with clients (shocking behavior, I know), I've been working for/with people who have verbally shit on my family and friends to my face through the past 3 election cycles... and then some, but after Obama it hit a new high. It became the phenomenally self-righteous "we're on the right side of history" or "maybe reality just has a liberal bias" or "the right has literally no value to society" or "look at how hot it is... are they seriously saying we have no climate change?" or "well we're just better people" (the precursor to real tyranny) etc etc ad nauseam. It has been Increasingly untethered to any vague reality, devoid of respect for Occam's Razor or balance in all things, instead always opting for the most politically alarmist/expedient/exciting narrative (see basically everything they've thrown at Trump for 4 years). A current example: maybe we have shit tons of fires now NOT because we angered the carbon gods by producing plant food but INSTEAD because we DIDN'T DO CONTROLLED BURNINGS FOR 30 YEARS because environmentalists said leaving nature untouched was the One True Way and "Mankind Bad"?

They are hedonists, emotionally-driven and convinced that the more something "feels", the more right it is (an intentional twist on that phrase). Put differently, to them emotions dictate and justify anything, in a circular self-rationalizing way that means they can just make themselves angry enough when they need to do or say something terrible, even outright unforgivable and permanent. I've seen it too often destroy people I care about and these adult children sit there smiling because they are riding an emotional high (self-generated and -amplified of course) and they are a menace to the world... there's nothing redeemable in most of the ones who have ridden that train too long as the circular cycle protects itself, in the way many alcoholics can't see even the outlines of their addiction because it protects itself with the mental armours of fear and avoidance. Here the armour is still fear, namely fear of confrontation and defeat, leading them to attempt to homogenize the world they claim to love in its diversity. They know, just as well as we, that diversity of thought is all that matters, so they play the old game of accusing your enemy of that which you are guilty, take their power, and then try to force everyone to think like them. It's literal tyranny, plain and simple.

Anyways, yeah, I've long been trying to right the ship or get us to hit some agreements where no one's happy (usually means a good compromise) but we can start to relieve the tension, but now the port rails are in the water and the leftists are still proudly shackling former believers to them, insisting we're running straight and true down the middle (this perpetual "I'm the average" mental illness is the result of not being straightened out as a child). It's like watching the Dutch Tulip craze in, IIRC, the 1600s... the TDS is a diagnosable mania and nothing but the crushing blows of reality has even a slim chance of fixing it.

So go... go help them realize that, yes, whether they get this nomination or not, they're truly fucked. Let them crash through the walls of self-delusion so hard their only options are to snap out of it and move towards the real, historical center or to just submit to the momentum, letting it carry them to a far off Communist paradise where they'll surely be treated with the socialized medicine they so richly deserve.
