How does this guy actually get elected? Is there anyone that can run against him? I know he's Mormon and running in Utah...but like...aren't there...you know...other Mormons or something?

I'd assume it's managed and arranged by the church.

Of course every Republican (and practically every Democrat) running for Senate in Utah is a Mormon. That's a wash. There's more to it than that.

In the 2018 state convention, Mitt faced a formidable challenger in Mike Kennedy, a doctor and state legislator. There were 11 candidates in the primary, and Mittens and Kennedy were the only ones who got more than a handful of votes. The top 2 advanced to the 2nd ballot, and pretty much everyone who voted for one of the other 9 then voted for Kennedy, giving him 51% of the vote.

However, when it came time for the primary, tons of national money came out for Mitt. And tons of endorsements. Including, uh, this one.
