Buy them some used books, some second hand clothes, and sauté some chicken and mixed veggies for dinner. And put 2 kids in each bedroom if you don’t have the space. The kids don’t care at all and will probably live a better life that way.
The problem is that parents worry about how other parents will perceive them if their kids don’t have all of the best things. There is so much vanity with parenting. It’s supposed to be about raising a child to be a good adult, not raising a child to be a status symbol for yourself.
