How am I misleading? I'm 100% for Trump picking a judge for the vacant seat, I was just letting you know that the guy you were replying to was, in fact, right.
Also, I'm absolutely not implying that Trump is a hypocrite, just the republican senators who said they would not consider a nomination during an election year.
The rationale being they are 2 different parties back then. The Senate is well within its right to not affirm Obama's choice.
Now both the WH and Senate are the same parties.
It doesnt make them hypocrites. They are functioning within their constitutional authority. Thats the whole purpose of Senate affirmation (checks & balances in a multi party (2 party) democracy), otherwise it would just be a rubber stamp approval.
I know. People keep derailing the discussion. I was just letting you know that the guy was right, in that the republican senators who said they would never appoint a SCJ during an election year were technically hypocrites (per definition). And there's nothing wrong with that, what's best for the America comes first!
