I didn't vote him back in, unfortunately we have a lot of older people who are easily fooled by campaign commercials and don't pay attention to how they vote.
This 100% all over the country. TV is alive and well in old conservative homes that think Fox News is “there from them”.... or god forbid, trust CNN still. Remember these people are old and from a time when a lot of these media platforms weren’t nearly as biased.
He barely won his last election in 2018. WV is so much redder than it was 10 years ago when he was first elected. Even though he isn't up again until 2024, I can imagine he is worried about staying viable.
The unions have a very strong sway on the "grew up union Democrat" people.
Especially in a somewhat insulated state like WV where media and even the internet is not as big a part of people's lives but welfare is. They are somewhat protected from the daily Democrat insanity and even if they are aware of it maintain the 90's "blue dog" Democrat belief that there's still a wing of the party that represents Conservative, religious southern working class viewpoints in the face of the "northern fat cat" Republicans.
They aren't really aware that Manchin is the only one left of that mold. The rest of the party has gone full Marxist Revolution.
