She abstained as a favor to Montana Republican senator Steve Daines, whose daughter's wedding coincided with the Kavanaugh vote. She was going to vote no and he was going to vote yes, but they wound up both not voting, effectively.

No, I got that and maybe I wasn't clear. The Democrats do have a foothold in that state having had recent D governors and members of congress. I don't understand it. A recent Montana gov, Hickenloper? was one of the original Dem candidates.
