The dems have a bill coming up in the House in the next few weeks to legalize cannabis. I don’t think they expect it to actually pass the senate... the way they talk about it sounds more like a last minute tactic to gain more voters (“look what we could do if we could just retake the senate...”). Only problem is they falsely assume that R’s are anti-cannabis.

The R’s need to call their bluff and hijack the whole initiative. Support it hard while slamming Biden’s long-standing anti- cannabis position and Cumela’s corrupt history of throwing people in prison for it. Push it as their own idea “for the farmers”, “for the economy”, “fighting the opioid crisis”... there are plenty of politically expedient reasons they can choose. Pass it in the Senate. Trump signs the bill effectively ending prohibition under his administration while crediting the R’s for passing it despite the dem leadership opposition. Call it a win for all Americans. And voila! What started as a dem bill ends as a win for the R’s. And no more federal prohibition!
