One common talking point is that the Senate refused to move forward in 2016. Wrong. Refusing to take action is an action.

Bad analogy time. Imagine that your kid needs express permission to go on a date. The kid keeps asking you. You never say no. But you never say yes. In that case, refusing to say yes is the same thing as saying no.

The Senate refused to say yes to Garland. That's the same thing as saying no.

And people forget how much of a gamble that strategy was. Clinton was favored to win until election day. Garland wasn't nearly as liberal as whoever Clinton nominated would have been.
