It's a poor choice for home defense regardless. You'd be infinitely better off with a shotgun with a stock. Three points of contact, quicker on target, highly intuitive, etc. There's a lot of good gun videos online that back this up.
And if you live in such ridiculously tight quarters that it can't be a long gun (doubtful) even a pistol or revolver would be a better option in everything but foot lbs of energy - which is nowhere near as important as shot placement.
With a laser, hip fire is extremely practical. It's better than a standard shotgun with a stock if you live a in a smaller apartment. It's better for CQB and more portable for vehicles/trucks. It seems like a gimmick gun at first glance, but it can be an effective tool.
