I've been in a jury pool. You can be in one fairly easy, go down to the courts and tell them you want to be seated, they will fast track you.
I had a murder case, too - was fucked because my then boss was refusing to pay for my time away, and the judge was saying it was gonna be 6 weeks at least. Got sent out of county because too many in the jury pool were aware of the case.
I've been polled, too. I also got hit with a bunch of census shit this year - not the main one, but a lot of "extra" census they're doing. Just my turn.
I get jury summons at least once a year. Sucks. Had to serve on an actual jury a couple of years ago. Next time I will tell them I get triggered being in a court room with police nd judges. lets see how that pans out lol.
It depends on the state, but I think some states do it from the voter registration rolls, and others do it from driver's licenses and non-driver state IDs issued by the driver's licensing agency.

That being said, should you ever get called for jury duty, and do not want to serve, just ask a question during the selection process. Any question at all. "Will there be bathroom breaks?" Gold. This will be enough to bring you to the attention of the prosecutors and they will almost certainly not select you. I have seen it several times.

never avoid a jury. If you are called, do all you can to serve. The actual voice of the the people. I have served twice. I will serve if asked every time

You can literally volunteer to be a member of the jury.
They only summon people because essentially no one volunteers.
I plan to do a bit of that once I retire.
Most lawyers will try to strike out a jury pool member who's too eager

I got called once before the 2018 election and once I said I was white, which was like question #3 they said thanks for your time and hung up lol
