These people think freedom of religion means freedom from religion. They have no constitutional guarantee to not hear someone else's words about religion.

Jews actually don't have the same concept of heaven and hell as christians/muslims. Its actually a very interesting topic that you should go down the rabbit hole on.

Old Testament talks about Heaven and the Aftelife a lot. So did Christ. Did you think He was talking about an entirely different place and God? Christ was Jewish after all...

jews today do not practice the same religion that christ did. There is no temple and when was the last time you saw a burnt offering?

Jews do not worship the same God as Christians.

10
goat_nebula 10 points ago +11 / -1

Huh, I guess one could make the argument that when Christ was crucified and God split the temple that He was also splitting them off from Him. Interesting take for sure, but many came to Christ after and because of those events. Definitely merits a discussion I’d say.

to my knowledge Jewish people believed in an afterlife that was almost identical to the greek idea of the afterlife. A split afterlife, one for righteous people and one for those who were not. Abraham's bosom and Gehenna. The latter was described by Jesus as a wet nasty smelly horrible place with lots of angry people but none of the wetness was drinkable and nothing you needed was available. Abraham's bosom was a place of comfort where you had what you needed. Edit: to be clear neither of these were heaven where God lived. Same as the Greek idea of the afterlife where the dead went to Hades and didn't go to Mt. Olympus.

I’d love to read more on this if you have some sources. I’ve begun doing some learning on old Hebrew tribalism and beliefs before they came together as the Chosen and the Jews we know and think of today. Just like lots of the world their tribal past and practices undoubtedly had a part in their current religion and belief system and from what I’ve begun to read today there are some weird and fucked up beliefs and sects of Judaism still hanging around today.

2
thisguy883 [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Well the good greeks didn't go to mt olympus when they died, that place was reserved only for the gods.

They went to a place between olympia and hades. More of a purgatory where they just hung out for eternity in a place that was supposed to be calm and pleasant.

2
kekNation 2 points ago +2 / -0

A lot of references might be overstating it. I think most of the references, particularly to heaven/Abraham’s Bosom are not that clearly referencing heaven. Some of them are used as references to heaven when they are cited in the New Testament. But, if you reject all things NT, then you wouldn’t change how you read those verses based on how they were used in the NT. Just like protestants don’t give a shit how Catholics or Mormons view verses in light of their additional texts.

Avatar 6 points ago +6 / -0

that depends on the scholar and the work they cite. some say there is and some say there is not. heres a good example of yes they do:

*There will be three groups on the Day of Judgment: one of thoroughly righteous people, one of thoroughly wicked people and one of people in between. The first group will be immediately inscribed for everlasting life; the second group will be doomed in Genion [Hell], as it says, "And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life and some to reproaches and everlasting abhorrence" [Daniel 12:2], the third will go down to Genion and squeal and rise again, as it says, "And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried. They shall call on My name and I will answer them" [Zechariah 13:9]... [Babylonian Talmud, tractate Rosh Hashanah 16b-17a] *

in addition:

References to Gehinnom as a fiery place of judgment can be found in the apocalyptic literature of the Second Temple period. The embellished this idea, claiming that Gehinnom is 60 times hotter than earthly fire (Berakhot 57b).

The earliest reference to Gan Eden (the Garden of Eden) and Gehinnom as a pair is probably the rabbinic statement of the 1st century sage Yochanan ben Zakkai: “There are two paths before me, one leading to Gan Eden and the other to Gehinnom (Berakhot 28b).”

RGB was Jewish and shouldn't have Christian theology pushed on her even in death.

Oh? Well then,

Ruth, on your passing I will pray to Jesus and thank Him for His infinite compassion and forgiveness, and if you are not already in hell, I hope you take the opportunity to embrace Jesus, your Lord and Savior, and beg for His forgiveness and spend eternity apologizing to the millions of souls whose murders were facilitated by your earthly actions.

Respect her in death.

I respect the fact that she died, how about that?

I love using this one on that sort.

So you know homosexuality and abortion are evolutionary dead ends right? They will sputter about choice and other things. But they can not work out of the logic hole they have dug. They love science and freedom of speech when they can use it to push their way on others. Once it turns on them they melt right into what they hate. For they do hate you. They want you dead. They want your children dead and not hearing something accidentally that they have to discuss. They come from a position of hate not love. It shows.

Yeah. TLDR Jews have Heaven and Sheol - which is the place of darkness where the souls of those not in heaven are cursed to wander. This jives with the NT description of hell as "outside" heaven. The eternal torment, lakes of fire, etc is all sorta retconned on. But even just being stuck outside heaven, watching the love and unity while being cursed to remain alone on the outside and knowing it's all your fault sounds like eternal torment TBH.

It's worse than that, they've tried to redefine "freedom of religion" as "freedom from religion" and are trying to say that no laws can come from a religious morality. This is turning the freedom on its head by saying that religious people should have no say in the very laws that govern them.

This sort of brainwashing needs to be pointed out and broken. Why are time-tested rules that society was founded on somehow a worse basis for law than the ramblings of some basement dwelling cuck? Why is it that everyone except for religious people is allowed to legislate their morality? Wokeism clearly proves that they have no qualms about subjugating us to their "morality." Why are we prevented from upholding the very principles our laws were founded upon merely because of our religion?

This is an insidious sort of brainwashing that is being used to make people doubt the rightness of standing up for what they believe is right and it needs to be called out more.

Here’s what I did.

  1. Pick an area of the United States near you, or the nearest place to you that you feel is still based.

  2. Do a map search for churches in that area.

  3. Find the websites for those churches.

  4. Download a sermon and listen to it.

If it sound like garbage, find a new church in that ring. If they are teaching from the Bible, and don’t sound like liberals, keep listening.

Two years into atheism rehab and my life is way, way better than ever. I see evidence of God’s movement often in my life and in those around me.

2
DiscoverAFire 2 points ago +2 / -0

I love that we can have heartfelt discussions between believers, nonbelievers, and inbetweeners on this board.

Personally, I was raised Presbyterian, and consider myself somewhere between presby and deist now. Finding a smart church - where they ask the hard questions and apply faith and logic to determining the answers - was hugely helpful for me.

I'll make the same offer I did to another poster; I study biblical apologetics and what scientific evidence there is for the biblical text. If you'd like any help getting on track, or even in finding a good, Word-based church near you, feel free to reach out over PM and I'd be more than glad to talk with you.

3
mynewspiritclothes 3 points ago +3 / -0

Put in the effort. "It" reaches out to you only as far as you reach out to it. If you search for God, he will find you, and you will find him.

I find this is a prime reason the left are atheists - because you have to put in the effort. They think they're "entitled" to the answers. I found God because I wanted to know, and I knew that if there was a God, that's a pretty big thing to leave out of your life. God answers; you just have to ask.

Accept that you know next to nothing about this realm. Let go and begin your search. If you truly care enough, you'll never turn back.

Also - Jesus never said to build a Church. Church is just as evil as the state. I'm not saying every Church-goer is dumb and evil, but the Church as an institution is corrupt and very dangerous.

1
MakeAmericaLegendary 1 point ago +1 / -0

As someone who studies apologetics and scientific evidence for biblical descriptions, I'd be more than glad to chat with you and get you the other side of the picture, if you'd like. Feel free to PM me if you want.

In fact the constitution guarantees they will hear someone else's religious beliefs.

Funny how the poster admonishes christians for pushing something on Ruth Bee Gee in death . . . in a way admitting she has an afterlife. Maybe he/she is just upset that Ruthie’s afterlife isn’t all that pleasant. I think it was McStain who said yesterday that at least it’s a dry heat.

Eternal Life in the Kingdom. What are you suggesting they do believe in? Judaism is just the Old Testament. Talks about Heaven a lot in there. Only difference anybody could make here is that Christ says you must believe in Him to get there, Christ doesn’t come out saying that Jews go somewhere else. Christ WAS Jewish. All Christians are are followers of Judaism that believe Christ to be the Messiah whereas Jews don’t and believe the Messiah has yet to come and will be more like a warrior king like David was.

Eh. There's different thoughts. Judaism proper doesn't have a concrete idea of what the afterlife is. There have even been branches of Judaism that claim there is no afterlife. And there's branches that believe essentially the same thing as Christians.

4
DarkestMatt 4 points ago +12 / -8

It's important to know, that when it comes to mysticism, there's only one objectively correct answer, which is that Christianity is correct, and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to study up on their mysticism and learn to think objectively!

11
JeremiahKassin 11 points ago +11 / -0

I agree. But I still find it useful to understand other religious systems. Helps me to see where they're coming from.

For instance: I think a great deal of the acceptance of Islamic infiltration in this country would stop in its tracks if people educated themselves as to exactly what Muslims believe.

Modern Judaism, in particular, might be wrong about a great deal, but it's not malicious as some here seem to believe. It's almost universally Jews who walk away from the faith, or practice a watered-down version that might as well be atheism, that develop harmful political beliefs.

Yeah, I think that part of this is even covered in the New Testament, where it mentions that the Sadducees do not believe in heaving, angels or demons, but the Pharisees do. It's the part where they talk about the woman who has been married multiple times and ask who she's married to in heaven?

(Answer: nobody. It's "until death do you part" for a reason.)

You can still be angry that it was the Jewish clergy that killed him, but that doesn’t change the fact that Christianity is derived from Judaism and worship the same God.

3

the Jewish clergy that killed him

It was Roman rule that sentenced Him.

A lot of people hide behind Christianity as a way to say "Hey, I'm not those things you accuse me of, I'm a good Christian, see?!"

But in private, they're the most vile, disgusting humans on earth.

These people are "Christians" not in the way that they're good people who believe in the Messiah, but they're "Christians" in public so they can use it as a shield to "protect" themselves against the good people who might expose them for the evil filth they truly are.

I mean, look at Pelosi. She uses her "Catholic faith" as a way to get back at Trump by basically saying "this is what a REAL Christian does and how a REAL Christian acts." She uses her "faith" to convince people she's "holy" and a good person whose doings good for the Lord. She uses it to hide her evil doings. A lot of people are like that sadly. We may not be able to find them, but God sure will, and God will make them pay. God doesn't like someone who publicly says they serve Him, while they serve themselves or Satan in private.

I believe there is a lot of Satanic and occult crap going on under the guise of "Christianity" and "Judaism." I think you mentioned something like that above.

1
deleted 1 point ago +1 / -0
2
Long_time_lurker 2 points ago +3 / -1

Jews aren't exactly monolithic, either today or back then. It's true, some Jews did write some disgusting things about Jesus. It's also true that some long dead Jews presented Jesus to the Romans who actually executed Him on charges of sedition.

But it's also true that the "gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." Now, nobody can live up to the law and they no longer have a temple to make any sin offerings in, either, there's only Jesus. In the NT, I believe it was Paul who even wishes himself to be accursed in order to save the lost Jews.

Yet it's also true that many particular people who were Jewish have done awful things. Some, like Saul who held the coats of those who stoned Stephen, repented. Others did not. Others delivered believers into prisons, beat them 39 times with rods, scourged them, disowned them, removed the believers from the places of worship and their homes.

But it's not right or good to assign collective blame. I know that I do not want to share blame with everyone who has the same sex organs, melanin content, or birthplace. Judge each one fairly, by their works. Some are, as you've said evil. Others, like Saul, may yet repent, even after doing evil things. God only knows.

0
viVbiz-bufmu1-qodmem 0 points ago +2 / -2

Collective blame and assignment of it is exactly how we get into stupid conversations like repetitions.

Bottom line, and I know it’s hard to understand, but there is no central Jewish authority. Further, the sects of judiaisim are as different as catholic, and southern Episcopalian and 7th day.

You should know that Jews spend very little time thinking of Jesus in a theological sense. The energies are spent studying the more ancient scripts. Jesus His life and teachings are more like fan fiction. It’s there if you want to read it and all. But no one really talks about it. Nor Islam not hindu. I imagine Christians don’t actually spend time studying judiasim either in typical life. (Theology studies aside)

I certainly can't anticipate the actions of the Heavenly Court. But Reincarnation apparently is on the table in Judaism.

Ruth probably has been given some hefty assignments to do via Reincarnation before her soul can be given the standard rewards.

Problem is, she's going to be reincarnated in soon-to-be aborted babies a lot... over and over....

(Okay, I better stop before I get myself into trouble)

Hopefully she gets an abortioner like the one who joked about cutting vocal cords first. Maybe she will be left on a cold steel tray while her mother and doctor have a conversation about whether the mother will be inconvenienced if the baby is allowed to live.

Important to note pretzels bagel dog (op in Twitter ) hasn’t exactly established their credibility for speaking for ALL Jews or understanding ALL Jewish theories.

We are getting wrapped up over an anonymous post.

In Christian theology, Jews eventually get to heaven after the second coming of Christ.

9
JeremiahKassin 9 points ago +10 / -1

Some. Not all. The branches cut off are cast into the fire. I say this as a Christian with Jewish blood.

2
bluedevilga 2 points ago +3 / -1

Yes, but Jews probably think their heaven works just fine without Jesus, or else they would already be Christians.

1
MissileToad 1 point ago +2 / -1

Huh? Yeah no, that's not right at all.

John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

1 John 5:11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

You are free to believe what you will choose, but Jesus cannot be both the only way and not the only way.

Uhm... as Christian I believe in the After Life, regardless of what other people believe? If I wish someone a good after life, regardless of what they believed in, that's a good thing...

You're talking about lefties though. The same people who think it's offensive to invite someone to a Christmas party.

"Rest in Peace" is so vague as to be basically completely wholesome, no matter what religion you are.

It's not about the sentiment or the words, just a chance to attack what they dislike.

paradise/hell, both were in the earth. Jews "heaven" is the Kingdom of Heaven which will be on Earth someday.

That's actually Christian theology, too. The concept of "Heaven" is really misinterpreted in mainstream culture.

These people need to STFU. It's worse than the people who get bent out of shape over someone saying "Merry Christmas". No one is saying it to be offensive. If someone tells me "Happy Hanukkah" I just say thank you to a nice person with well wishes, I don't start screeching about not being Jewish.

What's Christian about rest in piss?

5

Nope. I pray for all the dead. It's how my religion, based onTruth, works.

5
BigPepeEnergy 5 points ago +5 / -0

Seriously? OK bois, you know the counter to this, "May Allah's blessing be upon her even though she was not one of the people. May she reach paradise even though she didn't follow the word of Allah, as-salaamu alaikum." Let's see them come back from that.

So why did the candlight-vigil crowd in front of the Supreme Court sing "Amazing Grace" in her memory ?

RBG was an atheist - the other communist atheists are just playing the Jewish card which they are not entitled to play, since they are not actually Jews.

They always try to do that.

Atheists United September 18 at 5:08 PM · We salute the life of RBG. She was a champion for so many atheist causes and people.

5
heelsawyer 5 points ago +5 / -0

If she's an athiest, then her belief is that she is dead. Game over. She no longer gives a fuck. Her dying wish doesn't matter, because she is dead. She isn't around to care about it an any form. At least, that's what she believes. Right? She isn't going to be like oh my god, they are wishing me well in heaven. She is in a box, what does she care?

3
slaphappy2 3 points ago +4 / -1

Well, I'm not a member of whatever group believes in taking reports from Democrat Partisans at face value.

Therefore, I'm going to assume that this "dying wish" stuff is made up nonsense, like all the rest of their verbiage.

However, you deserve credit for pointing out the logical inconsistency of their position - ( not that any of them have the brains or interest to appreciate it )

RIP - RBG

I've lived in Boca Raton, Florida. They don't respect our feelings, don't ever consider theirs beyond normal courtesy to a passing stranger.

Of course they have a right to exist, but don't mistake them for friends, it is a closed society... much like Scientologists, the Amish and Mormons.

3
Bluestorm83 3 points ago +4 / -1

Don't use Christian Theology on her!

Wait, where does Christianity get all its ideas about the afterlife? Oh, right, everything that Judaism was when Christ was born. Which included concepts of dying and going to be with God and the faithful Jews who died in the covenant. The only Jews who denied this stuff were the Saducees, who Jesus shut down rather succinctly the one time they got in His face.

So if anything, RBG should apologize to Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, Samuel, and all of the other old testament Patriarchs and Prophets whose religion she perverted both with the modern atheistic Judaism that she practiced AND for all the acts she did that were an affront to God's Law.

Of course, she can't, as there's a great gulf fixed between them and where she is now. But hey, whatever. Respect her lifestyle and don't minimize her woman's right to choose to lead a life to render unto her the wages of sin, which is death and hell.
