I'm with you. I got brainwashed by reading seemly logical statements made in athiest board, Darwin books, etc and my faith got lobotomized. Now I'm an adult with no biblical recall.

Here’s what I did.

  1. Pick an area of the United States near you, or the nearest place to you that you feel is still based.

  2. Do a map search for churches in that area.

  3. Find the websites for those churches.

  4. Download a sermon and listen to it.

If it sound like garbage, find a new church in that ring. If they are teaching from the Bible, and don’t sound like liberals, keep listening.

Two years into atheism rehab and my life is way, way better than ever. I see evidence of God’s movement often in my life and in those around me.

I love that we can have heartfelt discussions between believers, nonbelievers, and inbetweeners on this board.

Personally, I was raised Presbyterian, and consider myself somewhere between presby and deist now. Finding a smart church - where they ask the hard questions and apply faith and logic to determining the answers - was hugely helpful for me.

I'll make the same offer I did to another poster; I study biblical apologetics and what scientific evidence there is for the biblical text. If you'd like any help getting on track, or even in finding a good, Word-based church near you, feel free to reach out over PM and I'd be more than glad to talk with you.

Put in the effort. "It" reaches out to you only as far as you reach out to it. If you search for God, he will find you, and you will find him.

I find this is a prime reason the left are atheists - because you have to put in the effort. They think they're "entitled" to the answers. I found God because I wanted to know, and I knew that if there was a God, that's a pretty big thing to leave out of your life. God answers; you just have to ask.

Accept that you know next to nothing about this realm. Let go and begin your search. If you truly care enough, you'll never turn back.

Also - Jesus never said to build a Church. Church is just as evil as the state. I'm not saying every Church-goer is dumb and evil, but the Church as an institution is corrupt and very dangerous.

As someone who studies apologetics and scientific evidence for biblical descriptions, I'd be more than glad to chat with you and get you the other side of the picture, if you'd like. Feel free to PM me if you want.
