"The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war" - MacArthur
It is very true, too. As a vet, man can I see the violence and the anger building up...but please, God, we should not let this devolve into a Civil War by any means. We MUST make it to election day, and let the truth ring out. If it crosses that line everyone who is silent and on the sidelines just praying to return to normal, all those good innocent Americans, will be dragged into the mud along with the vocal minority.
Death is not the only cost of War. A second Civil War would absolutely destroy any semblance of trust in the government, in the "parties" that speak for us, and even with our own neighbors. This wouldn't even be a state vs state thing where the 'bad guys' are a few states away afterwards and we can just move on when its all over. Its an ideology that is in every state in some capacity.
We are talking about an entire generation of Americans who will lose the capacity to trust or work with their own neighbors and coworkers. It would be the end of America as a superpower in the world, and regardless of how it ends, both sides lose. The only winner is the rest of the world that looks at the USA with envious eyes.
You want to know why it seems like there's foreign influence all over this election? Because it is...they all see it as a win-win. For the red white and blue blooded Americans though, its a lose-lose.
You're right, I'm not advocating for a civil war (if it came down to real fighting, I'd probably be wiped out in the first five minutes), but you say, "We are talking about an entire generation of Americans who will lose the capacity to trust or work with their own neighbors and coworkers." How far are we from that, now?
We are still far enough away that its repairable. The VAST majority of us are silent. Silent Democrats, Silent Republicans, and anything in between. Most of the vocal ones are the extremes and the minority. I'm just a username on TD and I talk to family, but no one else needs to know where I lie beyond the US flag up at my house, and few people make it out to me physically.
I think most people are like that. I believe most everyone just wants this mess over and done with and to move on. If 2021 comes around without major incident, life goes on pretty much as it has been. If it gets dragged violently into open conflict, it becomes the job of our children and our children's children to rebuild. I don't want that for them.
I actually know a lot of co-workers and long-time friends (many who live.work in Portland proper) who, in spite of their left-leaning ways, have not gone full TDS.
Their greatest hesitations/convictions are caused by the tsunami of propaganda pouring out of every media outlet. This, as you might guess, is our greatest enemy in this whole thing. I have seen a few red-pill over time, but it takes time, patience, and a gentle effort.
So far though, the greatest influence in getting these folks to un-left themselves has been the riots. One friend of mine got red-pilled the same night that BLM marched through his neighborhood screaming threats. The "Black Lives Matter!" placard on his front porch didn't insulate him from being directly threatened (he shouted his support, only to be told that he'd only be believed if he literally gave his house to the mob - he then shut up, hid in his locked house with a baseball bat, and prayed that they went away. That was more than enough to make him realize that these assholes are def. not fucking around, and the next day over the phone I got a ton of questions about how one goes about buying a firearm, what kind to buy, where to get one, etc.)
I think that, as these rioters get even stupider (they will, trust me), all but the TDS-afflicted will quietly join-up with the right side of the ideological divide, and while they may still be gay, pro-choice, whatever, they will certainly not abide by the BLM/Antifa bullshit. I hope it will force them to clean their ideological house (like we had to in the 1990s with shitheads such as McVeigh and David Duke), but I'm not going to call it just yet.

It's way beyond repairable man.
I disagree.
I live in rural Oregon.
