I know of a Ukrainian-Orthodox Church in my area of DC/NoVa. I always wondered why one of my most-based Catholic friends recommended attending service there every now and then.
I'll attend one and see if I can have a chat with their priest.
Yah, one of my university colleagues got to where he couldn't stand the thought of supporting a church that hides and shields its pedophiles from prosecution so he left. He, his wife, and their 7 kids joined the Russian Orthodox church and they're very snug and happy.
I'm Turkish and was raised in Sunni Islam, Hanafi School of Sharia law, but my fiancé was Greek Orthodox. We went to a Syrian Orthodox church in El Paso that was just wonderful because they performed the Liturgy in Arabic, so all the things I was used to, I could still have! I've been married for 35 years; and, my spouse and my conversion are still the two wisest decisions I've ever made.
