Here in our fairly small area we had two ICUs completely filled with only Covid patients a few weeks ago. And lasted that way for a couple weeks. Forced the hospital to close a couple other floors to be able to transition them into ICUs for non Covid patients.
Not trying to cast suspicion upon the administration of the hospitals, but the inconsistency of 'diagnosises' and the methods of reporting/billing incentive, the specifics of the local/regional demographics (source of patients) along with when these have occurred really shouldn't translate into panic, let alone blame - except for when directives for putting suspected cases back in vulnerable populations were imposed.
Good thing the ICUs haven't been overrun by COVID.
