I think what you're seeing is not the earpiece itself but a flesh-colored custom adhesive piece that is taped over the ear to cover the earpiece in the ear canal. A special ear-bandaid of sorts.
Look at the vertical shadow toward the top of the ear as it covers the folds of the ear. And the way the adhesive reflects the light differently down toward the lobe, and the lack of an ear canal hole. It's perfectly clear.
Anything of that nature should be disclosed in advance of a debate. Covering it up wtih a custom piece like that - it looks like specially made adhesive - is deceptive.
Part of the Secret Service protocol for Presidential security is to sweep for radio signals and block them if not authorized.
Try to use your cell phone at a rally when Pres is on stage.
