In 2014 about 100 pounds of cocaine was found on a shipping vessel owned by his fathers company. No one in the company had any ties to the coke from what i remember. It was a bulk Coal transport ship and had been making runs between UK and colombia or something. So you know 90 pounds of coke could just get tossed in by a member of crew or just someone at the loading dock with a friend in europe.
in 2018 in a republican primary someone tried to smear him with that fact, and even called him "Cocaine Mitch". Which is laughable if you've ever seen the guy or been around him etc. He's pretty straight laced etc.
So the accusation was so wild and hilarious, it kind of stuck as a joke.
You know, wild ol' Cocaine Mitch! Its like a really large guy named "Tiny" at this point.
