I have a friend whose relative immigrated to NZ and has citizenship there. They're very selective and demand that you will be able to support yourself and contribute, so basically most American liberals are disqualified.

we might have a tough system for regular immigration, but we also have "compassionate" immigration. refugee immigration, temp worker immigration, family reunification immigration. oh and good old birth tourism.

I'm from NZ. We are only selective when it comes to people immigrating from Western countries. You have to be educated, have cash, and skills that are in demand. If you're from the Pacific Islands, have 10 kids, can't speak English and have no education, then you get a free pass to come here
