Due to the unprecedented circumstances brought about by the pandemic the Supreme Court must be made whole as soon as possible. Even if it were customary to not appoint justices before an election, the extraordinary state of affairs due to covid19 and the timely and critical issues it surfaces demand that the vacant seat be immediately filled. These issues include (but are not limited to):

Lock down orders

Emergency authorizations

Unsolicited mail in voting

Accepting unsigned ballots

Accepting late ballots

Ballot harvesting

It's common for those dying of cancer to undergo palliative care involving powerful drugs in in the final weeks of their life. Even if Justice Ginsburg did say she wanted to be replaced by the next President (which is likely untrue--she's better than that), the last thing that Justice Ginsberg would want is for her final legacy to be the country she loved in turmoil!
