I think the danger of antidepressants is that they don't solve the problem. They simply increase motivation. If the person is motivated to improve their life, then it can help give them the final push to change. If the person is motivated to create hell, then they will now have the motivation to carry it out.

They shouldn't be prescribed long term. Honestly, I would advise against them entirely.
