IF the dems win the senate in 2021 and they pull this stunt, then every two years once the other party gets the majority, then they will just pack the court the other way. It will be a complete shit-show. Dems make it 13 in 2021, R's make it 17 in 2023 so on and so forth until every SCOTUS decision is along party lines and no one has any faith in SCOTUS anymore.

Well packing the court can't really work unless you gain control of both houses of Congress (to pass a law increasing the size of the court), and the Presidency (to sign the new law and to appoint new justices)
