The Canadian ambassador should get called to the White House.

Why? Why not? Get them in the oval office with cameras and have the President dress them down for an attempted assassination by one of their citizens. There's a million things that could be said.

I don't see why that's necessary no doubt they aided in finding the individual. Holding the entire country at fault for one nutjob is crazy.
