Remember shelves being empty during panic buying in March was a failure of capitalism?

Yet a month later when every shelf was brimming once more, despite a worldwide pandemic with international lockdowns, there was no celebrating.

Exactly. The left don't want to admit that capitalism actually helps.

Prices are a mechanism of capitalism that prevent shortages. Government typically intervenes and doesn't allow this process to naturally take place, fixing the prices, causing shortages.

The problem is hoarders. Prices mostly resolve this problem

True story.

An ex of mine had once married a Chinese man while she was over there for a year-long employment gig.

They came back to the US together. He'd never been here.

First trip to the supermarket, he is stunned. Has never seen such an abundance of food. Then he sees the pet food. An entire aisle with pictures of dogs and cats on the bags and cans of food.

"You told me that in America, you don't eat your cats and dogs. So what is THIS?"

My ex kindly replied, "No, you don't understand. That is food FOR our pets."

The man was overwhelmed. He broke out crying, right there in the pet food aisle.
