I would do it if we were at civil war with the Left and BLM/Antifa were occupying my house. I love this house and have put hundreds of hours into its improvement. They will never get to enjoy this house.
John Hart was my ancestor. He had to flee his home to live in the surrounding woods and caves as the British were searching for rebel leaders as they chased Washington through the state. He was in his 60s at the time and hiding out in DECEMBER while this was happening. His house was severely damaged in the process. He eventually returned and 2 years later gave his fields to 10,000 American troops as a safe place for them to camp. He died shortly after penniless and in severe pain for 6 months from kidney stones. His property was seized and sold off to cover the debt he had accrued for supporting his country and his cause.
""Five were captured." This implies they were captured because they were signers. Only one was captured for signing the document. The rest were captured as soldiers."
This point you're making here I find pedantic. Saying they weren't captured BECAUSE they were signors, but merely SOLDIERS, is almost lefty-levels of retarded. But I don't want to be too rude here, same team and all. But you're stepping on your own toes for no reason.
Your only point of helpful clarification is about the deaths of the "9". In your info regarding their deaths, you mention the final thing that killed them. Were these 9 men truly wounded during the war? If they were, then their final causes of death in some of those instances could be attributed to wounds originating from the war. And the sailor missing is presumed dead, though if it indeed happened after the war, that's a valid criticism.
However, notice the stone gets the general point across much more succinctly than you. Nothing is lost in honoring these men by leaving it at what the stone says.
I was having a "discussion" with a coworker awhile ago and she stated that Dems were the original anti-establishment party and Repubs were the Founders racist party. I siad everything in that sentence is true if you switched around Dems and Repubs. Who was your history teacher Ibrahim X Kenedi???
None of this matters to Dems since they believe whatever history they can make up to support the narrative. They believe Lebron, or Obama or John Legend who literally could not have made it to where they are if it were not for these men laying it on the line for them?
I agree. I will be more specific. Democrat and Federalist were the first parties created after the formation of the constitutional government. Repubs came after breaking from the Dems after the dems beat whigs and feds
Something else many people forget when discussing the signers and other revolutionaries/founding fathers--- these were not a bunch of "old white men". Their ages in 1776:
Marquis de Lafayette, 18 -
James Monroe, 18 -
Gilbert Stuart, 20 -
Aaron Burr, 20 -
Alexander Hamilton, 21 -
Betsy Ross, 24 -
James Madison, 25 -
Thomas Jefferson, 33 -
John Adams, 40 -
Paul Revere, 41 -
George Washington, 44 -
Samuel Adams, 53 -
And I must include this tidbit for old pedes like myself (I am 61):
"The oldest prominent participant in the Revolution, by a wide margin, was Benjamin Franklin, who was 70 years old on July 4, 1776. Franklin was a full two generations removed from the likes of Madison and Hamilton. But the oldest participant in the war was Samuel Whittemore, who fought in an early skirmish at the age of 80. I’ll let Wikipedia take it from here:
Whittemore was in his fields when he spotted an approaching British relief brigade under Earl Percy, sent to assist the retreat. Whittemore loaded his musket and ambushed the British from behind a nearby stone wall, killing one soldier. He then drew his dueling pistols and killed a grenadier and mortally wounded a second. By the time Whittemore had fired his third shot, a British detachment reached his position; Whittemore drew his sword and attacked. He was shot in the face, bayoneted thirteen times, and left for dead in a pool of blood. He was found alive, trying to load his musket to fight again. He was taken to Dr. Cotton Tufts of Medford, who perceived no hope for his survival. However, Whittemore lived another 18 years until dying of natural causes at the age of 98."
PEDE.....this may be THE greatest history post i have ever read on the Donald...am saving this and printing this out...thanks so much for taking the time to post this!!!!
PS...61 is not old and this story needs a post of it's own!
They pledged their "Sacred Honor". Consider that very few leaders today have any honor at all, much less sacred honor.
Our founders and those who fought for our freedom risked everything that they had, including their lives. We owe them and everyone who has fought for our freedom since that time a tremendous debt of gratitude.
3rd Stanza of America the Beautiful is apropos here:
O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine,
Till all success be nobleness,
And every gain divine!
Wow. They had a dream, and gave everything for us to enjoy it. If that doesn't move you, what will? It's a beautiful country, and these anarchists are RUINING it.
People claim to fear a man with nothing left to lose, it makes them unpredictable. But in truth, fear the man who has everything and wants to keep it. If they win, they keep it. If they lose, they lose it all.
Thanks for the information!
Also, this is pretty funny:
You have to have a certain amount of hate for the British to burn your house down.
Or you have more love for your country and countrymen than your own possessions. Its not like the British were occupying it to hold a tea party...
That's true. I suppose I could've worded it better.
~Thomas Nelson, Jr.
I'd do it. If I couldn't get back into my own home, and a bunch of fucking commies were using it? Shit. BURN IT.
If I can control my garage door with an app, I can certainly deploy the Claymore Roomba with an app.
Well now I want a roomba though....
Yep. Thomas Nelson did that. Everyone needs to visit Yorktown at least once. Local community college named for him.
Id do it 1000 times over if i had to. Materials are immaterial in this case.

It is my favorite 'thing' but just a thing.

This is you, isn't it?
Regarding the 9, makes sense. Point taken. Thanks for the info.
No good deed goes unpunished.
Thanks for trying to educate.
That is... an incredible idea!
Yeah, that's pretty solid self-education right there.
Based and history pilled.

There literally weren’t Democrats or Republicans... It was the Whigs and Tories.
JFC when I was in middle school we learned that. What do they teach kids these days?
This: REEEEEEEEEEEEE. Also, check out this naked tranny.
I agree. I will be more specific. Democrat and Federalist were the first parties created after the formation of the constitutional government. Repubs came after breaking from the Dems after the dems beat whigs and feds
The first parties were the Democratic-Republicans and the Federalists, the eventual evolution of political parties went something like this:
Dem-Reps ---> National Republicans (joined Whigs) + Democrats
Federalists ---> Whigs + some to Dem-Reps ---> Republicans
The British were fucking ruthless to early Americans. So yeah burning the bastards with your home would be a wash. Liberty or Death my friends.

I may put together a better collection of info and start a thread on it, thanks :)
As a direct descendant of one of those signers, I will not let their ideal die without a fight
thanks to all 9 generations of your family from the original Signer to the 2020 Constitution protecting PEDE descendant
Meanwhile the current democratic party seems to be filled with Benedict Arnolds.
Just think of this when you're too afraid to show support for the President.
Democrats would sell out their family for thirty pieces of silver. If they don't love the country, they won't protect it.
I've been watching the show Turn, it's really good

This needs to have 15,000 upvotes. THANK YOU for posting this!!
I watch the mini-series "John Adams" or the movie "1776" and am reminded of how CLOSE it was for us to not becoming a country at all....
These great men sacrificed all for the dream of a free country.

Got any more of that Toxic Masculinity?
Wow. They had a dream, and gave everything for us to enjoy it. If that doesn't move you, what will? It's a beautiful country, and these anarchists are RUINING it.
Where is this stone?
Charles City Virginia...think it is the family estate of Benjamin Harrison

Sounds like something democrats would have done to them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7vqzJC0r7A Paul Harvey said it best!
Today they would call that "toxic masculinity". Don't be a cuck, be a patriot.

Thanks Demonrats
whats sad though is how many no longer understand what Honor really means .
EVERYONE should down-vote until we get the count to 1776 and keep it there.
Or UN-vote sorry.
