Seemed like a total douche during the primaries but the dude has earned my respect.

A friend of mine in Texas said he walked into a restaurant they were eating at and they invited him to eat with them and he sat down and had dinner together. Even sent pics when I was skeptical. Said he was a real cool dude.

Imagine having dinner with Lion Ted. That would actually be epic.

It's my understanding that "Lion Ted" came after Trump donned him as "Lying Ted"...when did the switch occur? Or do I have that wrong?

I didn't really pay attention pre-Kavanaugh.

Trump did coin 'Lying Ted' during the 2016 Primary but once Trump won and Ted went 'he's the big man now, time to support him', Trump morphed it to 'Lion Ted' easy with an analogy of comparing Ted to a proud, strong Lion (paraphrasing) to turn a competitor to a stronger ally.

Ted was fiesty during the '16 primaries. Then after GEOTUS won the nomination, Ted came out at the RNC and made a fool of himself by saying something along the lines of "vote your conscience". In other words, he was salty as hell about losing.

He's completely come around now though. He's put that crap behind him, and he's focused on supporting Trump and MAGA now 100 percent.

Even Ted said that the primaries were a "gloves off" scenario. After he lost, he picked up his shit and went straight to work for the American people.

Trump did too after the Republican debates. He slaughtered Cruz and Jeb, but then everyone just got over it. (Except Jeb lmao)

The only thing high energy about Jeb! is the '!' in his name!

He was douche during the election. But he was running against Trump. He couldn't use the same tactics as Trump because nobody can beat Trump at it.

At the same time, I don't think anyone in professional politics thought that being straight talking and real could work. I think most including Cruz believed Trump was going to lose. I mean there's an entire industry around professional image, not just for politics but business as well.

Trump blew through all of that. The king of image and branding won by being real. I think Cruz learned from that. I still can't tell if he's trustworthy or not, but he's definitely a quick learner.

Very accurate perspective on Cruz. I couldn't agree more.

He's trustworthy. They spied on his campaign too.

Can I admire hutzpah yet withhold trust? Yes. Cruz has a flair for drama, but the story of him dragging Sleepy Doc Carson into a closet to propose an anti Trump alliance, as well as his observed conduct when Sleepy Doc missed his cue at the debates. If you recall, The Boss held Dr Ben back from bumbling onstage after Cruz sailed past him to his podium.

Ted’s kid’s slapping his face while he held her was a giveaway too. She’s not a prop. She pushed Carly off a stage too though, so I like her even more.

He wants it for Ted. And he’s deeply tied into the Bush dynasty. And he’s not really eligible as mommy became fully Canadian. Thank god that’s irrelevant, as he won’t run again I hope.

Not as bad as unnatural born citizen anchor baby Kamala who was raised in Canada, but still. Bush sponsored his dad and put him through college. He’s some sort of Bush family operative. Too spooky. His wife was/is deep at Goldman Sachs, and tried to commit suicide, or they botched her murder, but either way, no way. President Cruz is a no from me. Senate OK.
He’ll retire and do media. Maybe on Trump’s network. He can be our Glen Beck. lol

He and Foam Boy blamed the Chicago rally disturbance on Trump (which an acquaintance went to and was much more violent than publicized) and that was it for me

I still can't tell if he's trustworthy or not, but he's definitely a quick learner.

That's the damn truth, I'd be willing to bet that he's a RINO, or maybe was but then realized that it wouldn't fly with GEOTUS.

doug2 5 points ago +7 / -2

.... guys if we call the most maga allies out there RINOS it will lose all meaning

the most maga allies

Not how I would describe Ted Cruz but you know, whatever. If you were to ask him whether he would rather vote for Mitt Romney or Trump, I don't believe he would say Trump. (Unless he's trying to save face, of course)

Texan here, publicly he was a douche early on. With hindsight it’s clear that he was overcompensating because it was his first elected political position and was riding the Tea Party Anger. Once he mellowed out, he actually wasn’t too bad at all. Now I actually like him

Well, before, he didn’t know how to win.
