For crying out loud, they threaten to pack the court, abolish electorate college and grant statehood to Porto Rico and DC, all because the president and cocaine mitch are doing their jobs to fill a SCOTUS vacancy. For the record, they loved him BEFORE he ran for president. The media made him famous and nobody ever put those labels on him. But as soon as he descended down the golden escalator and stood in their way, they immediately turned on him, and surprisingly he dared to push back, which only made them hate him more. They have no respect to anything or anybody, all they want is power.

You're more inclined to abandon the long term in the face of short term advantage. Its the culture of instant gratification. They do this in all of their dealings.
