I have no idea what the rationale is for these "after election day" ballot acceptances.
Two points beyond the above question:
the "ballot harvesting" mentioned here is only harvesting in the sense of ballot collection boxes. I believe those ballots still require signature matching security and possibly security info only the voter should know, possibly a witness also. I believe this ballot collection boxes thing has been a thing all over for a while. For ME, the harvesting as its allowed in CA and NV is the one that CANNOT be allowed, where there is literally NO security required. So we should dig into this "ballot collection box" issue and see what security safeguards are or are not present.
Seriously, WHY cant anyone who even needs to use a ballot collection box also observe the day of election deadline? What is the fucking reasoning by the opposition? What possible excuse could even make any sense?
The signature matching is another Democrat fraud pathway. The signatures are matched to what is on file in the voter registration, which shows party registration as well. Republican signatures are routinely flagged for not matching while Democrat signatures get accepted even if they don't match. The Democrats here in Oregon have been doing this for decades with our vote by mail system.
typically in that system both parties have "observers" who have to concur on a sig mismatch in order for it to be put in the "contested" pile and that pile is kicked up to a next-level manual review.
I know it isnt perfect, but it is a level of security, anyway. Does it have holes? of course. But at least having security measures is light years ahead of what AB4 codifies, for example. That law makes voting essentially the honor system (by a party with zero honor).
We have to pick our battles. We can counter the sig match fraud attempts by just having more observers and poll workers - the amount of fraud that slips thru if we staff enough will be at a low enough level it wont matter. But we CANT counter stuff like AB4. Those measures have to be stopped by courts, and in the case of a state supreme court being in on it, like in CA and NV because they are de facto one party states, the only recourse is SCOTUS.
You are correct that a second person has to concur with a signature mismatch, but here in Oregon at least there is no provision for both parties to be represented, so you generally have a team of Democrats working together doing the fraud.
I personally know several Republicans that have had their ballots rejected due to signature mismatch. The mismatch rejections are a smaller issue though compared to the obviously mismatched signatures they they accept from registered Democrats. There is no one double checking those, and that enables them to harvest ballots from trash cans and other sources, fill them out straight Democrat, and send them in.
The Democrat here have had decades to perfect their fraud techniques with vote by mail, and now they will be doing it across the country.
