CCDFBG stands for Child Care Development Fund Block Grant. It is the federal funds that support your state's child care subsidy program.

In 2012, Obama royally fucked the program over by changing the rules of the grant, making it so if you stop working, you can still continue to get benefits and eliminating reporting requirements. Those eliminated incentives for families to move toward self-sufficiency.

Trump needs to fix this but, for now, I'll be happy with fucking over my commie co-workers.

As you are knowledgeable, can you suggest how to lower the cost of giving birth? Pre-natal and post-natal and newborn care.

We have the lowest birth rate in 40 years.

The huge medical costs aren't the only reason, but they are a part of the picture.

As birth isn't a disease, maybe it could be seen as something like street lights, which everybody pays for because they are good for everybody, in a very general sense.

8
Notablitheringidiot 8 points ago +10 / -2

can you suggest how to lower the cost of giving birth?

Women were dropping babies at 0 cost for thousands of years.

Sometimes I think modern women need to harden the fuck up. Don’t mistake me though modern men need to harden the fuck up even moreso.

Edit- for the record there are women who elect to do their birthing as naturally as possible and as far as I’m aware it’s usually completely successful (water births for example).

This idea of rushing to hospital for a childbirth is very modern.

9
Verrerogo 9 points ago +10 / -1

Some of it is that. But you forget that lots and lots of women died in childbirth during all those thousands of years. When birth works, it works. And it works enough of the time that the human race is here. Yes, unattended births can work fine. If all goes well. And it often does.

But even a young, strong, well fed woman can have a bad presentation. Queen Charlotte of England, who was 21 and lacked for nothing, died in childbirth in 1817. A bad presentation means the baby cannot emerge, he is positioned wrong. That situation needs a cesarean section, which requires a sterile, proper operating room, and the whole nine yards of modern medicine. Or it's curtains. Sometimes just for the stuck baby, and sometimes for the mother as well.

So while you DO have a point that some modern people of both sexes are not as physically tough as their ancestors, human birth HAS benefited from modern medical advances.

Sometimes it is knowable in advance that a particular birth may have difficulties, and sometimes it is not knowable in advance.

Some women are just good at this, others less so. But the best of them can have a bad presentation.

We are not willing to just take our chances and occasionally lose our wives. Not when the people down the street have modern medical care, complete with imaging, monitoring, and surgery, for free. And we could have had that too, but it cost too much for US, so we just did without it, we had just a midwife, no surgery available, and hoped for the best. That's too scary and nobody does it. Because you might be fine but you might not.

8
Verrerogo 8 points ago +8 / -0

OK that sounds good.

Maybe it would be simpler to have a presidential Executive Order that all US births are to be considered Medicaid births going forward, even if the people are not otherwise on Medicaid.

I have the impression that Medicaid birth is free. Totally free.

7
deleted 7 points ago +7 / -0
5
NotInFormation 5 points ago +5 / -0

Hmm. For the non-fans of the child support system, note that the cost of Medicaid paid births get tacked onto the debt owed by the payor (in the usual where the payor isn’t mom).

3
Verrerogo 3 points ago +5 / -2

So Trump should Executive Order that any birth to a US citizen is free because it falls under Medicare?

Maybe you will make a post about this proposition. You are knowledgeable in this issue. And a post is read much more than a comment.

We REALLY need to have cheap or free birth.

It is CRAZY that birth costs the earth. NO WONDER nobody does it here. It's cheap or free in every other country, and they are getting the families, not us.

if people needed them in 100% of cases, indeed humanity wouldve died before medical science was discovered.

to be honest, though, this is true in many things -- even fields that are supposedly high tech and in the sciences. the 'requirements' to get into the field are not always indicative of being able to do the job. but it doesnt matter.

even if you could prove such equivalency, nobody would listen without "the singular path" once its instated.

we could in fact massively lower wages, while everyone made more with the pay cut, simply by dispersing employment of better jobs out more, dropping a lot of unnecessary requirements, replacing university programs with higher-tier cash-only certification programs where the honus of education is on the individual -- not the school -- they simply provide tests with no background checking whatsoever if you pay.

it would work, well, you could replace all H1b and foreign workers with american workers at the same wage because the new workers are only paying $5000-$10000 max for a certification equivalent to a bachelors, masters, or even ph.D. in a field.

but this would cause professors, schools, as well as anyone currently employed in trades to literally flip shit because their wages drop to half or less and they still owe debt to the old system. basically tons of people would be wholesale replaced with cheaper but equivalent labor from within the country.

after the old generation of workers died out, though, $50k could be the new $200k. People could drop right out of high school and obtain a high level education on their own in their spare time and be tested for skill equivalency at a cheap cost. Private lessons and outside resources could be provided at a separate cost if needed.

the no background checking is important -- no school records or grades checks, no prior criminal history check. nothing. you pay, your in. and its just a set of tests and a self-curriculum that separates the wheat from the chaff so you dont have to worry about seat number limitation as many people would opt to take the exams without even purchasing outside tutoring at a separate cost (many have practiced these skills their entire lives for no credit)

the reason is you want the widest amount of competition, the most people able to take the tests possible. its not a guarantee you pass -- its extremely hard to do this. ur gonna have to figure out calc, trig, maybe even discrete mathematics or modular arithmetic on your own.

you might have to get 90% on these theoretical tests to actually pass to ensure skill. and also still publish a thesis at the end.

believe it or not people actually do this sort of intense self-learning sometimes.

I guess im trying to suggest putting a hard wall of separation between "classes" and "qualification tests" such that only skill and knowledge matter, and costs can be reduced a bunch, with a removal of all unnecessary stuff like P.E. and college health class lol.

so one could pass a class yet fail the qualification if not skilled and lazy, or fail a class but pass the qualification if they figured their shit out and fixed the problems they had when they were there and were GOOD at it.

In this scenario you might find you only need to pay for ONE course but you already know the rest of the curriculum. and it would be fine only to take that one course. as long as you took the entire set of qualifying exams. you MIGHT need them all -- but its up to you how you solve the problems -- just be damn sure you can solve em or your out a lot of money no refunds no financial aid.

I realize you'd probably be against this idea since its essentially flooding the labor market and removing most of the current weed-out mechanisms in place. but isnt the point of all this that the qualified person can output a product of equal quality or greater than others in their field alone? why does anything else matter?

Critical (social) Theory in general is the foundation of a lot of Leftist nonsense; that is to say "societies problems are the result of societies structure which is imposed", vis-a-vis People do not create Society, but Society creates People.

...and it's all horseshit! I will never understand how Leftists/Liberals/Dems can fit their heads so far up their asses!

For instance:

  • Lazy people don't become poor; poverty discourages people from working.

  • Gender roles are not defined as binary by a society with only two sexes; binary gender roles are a construct imposed upon people with a "spectrum" of sexuality.

  • Family roles and the Patriarchy system are not the natural expression of a Hunter/Protector and a Nurturer/Provider pair coupling relationships; obviously men are all just abusive pigs.

2
merelymeek 2 points ago +2 / -0

I will never understand

If you look at the arc of history on critical theory, it's fairly obvious. The communists in the West were defrocked in the 60's and 70's as the incredible abuses (e.g mass exterminations) perpetrated by the Soviet Union seeped into Western consciousness.

Influential Western deconstructionist philosophers like Sartre then renounced communism. But instead of critically looking at the ideology as flawed, they re-framed the discussion, which remained essentially the same.

"Proletariat" vs "Bourgeoisie" became "Oppressed" vs "Oppressors".

Critical theory is communism, pure and simple. Would-be dictators like the Democrats want communism because it hollows out the middle class, creates a permanent underclass, and puts them firmly in the upper class where they can dominate everyone else with impunity (just like the Soviet Union).

2
AenAllAin 2 points ago +2 / -0

Seems to still be up in the air:

On grant recipients, which include many universities that have embraced critical race theory training, the order says federal agency heads should review their programs and identify to which they can add a condition not to use federal dollars promoting critical race theory.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-issues-executive-order-banning-race-training-government-contractors-federal-employees-grant.amp

2
EatDatSideOfBeef 2 points ago +2 / -0

That's true, from the EO:

Sec. 5. Requirements for Federal Grants. The heads of all agencies shall review their respective grant programs and identify programs for which the agency may, as a condition of receiving such a grant, require the recipient to certify that it will not use Federal funds to promote the concepts that (a) one race or sex is inherently superior to another race or sex; (b) an individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, is inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously; . . .. Within 60 days of the date of this order, the heads of agencies shall each submit a report to the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) that lists all grant programs so identified.

The wording directed towards grantees is less firm than for contractors, so we may end up seeing some of this stuff continue for a while if agency heads try to protect it

There isn't a k-12 school system that doesn't get federal grants. Now...let's make it legal for employees to sue their employers for hostile work environments if they force their employees to sit through this crap
