There are at least four “news” stories a year about the public housing queens who can’t get their AC or heat fixed by the maintenance people. Last time my AC broke I went out, diagnosed the problem, bought a ten dollar part and installed it myself... It’s sad because I was all about helping my fellow man but now I look around and shake my head and say “you wouldn’t survive a real challenge”. People have no idea what it’s like to dig in the ground, fix problems or God forbid not have hvac.
Helping your fellow man is fine, just focus on the "fellow" part. It's like triage in a hospital, don't waste resources on folks that aren't gonna make it. Look for people like yourself and form an awesome community. And I don't mean racially, I mean producers. I help my fellow men that get out of bed in the morning and bust ass to provide value to society. Folks that wanna smoke weed 10 hours a day and cash a welfare check don't need my help.
There are a lot of people who know every word to every CardiB song but who would hurt themselves because they would hold a screwdriver from the wrong end. . .
If that is the case then heat is racist towards people who actually work in it. Risk of heat stroke. If these black po folk actually held a job where they were on a roof for 8 hours a day during a heatwave...jus sayin
Had someone come into my pharmacy years ago with a prescription for an air conditioner.
Which they wanted Medicaid to pay for.
I told them Medicaid doesn't pay for home appliances, and they said there was a medical need for it, so they should.
I said look around you, this is a pharmacy. Do you see any air conditioners on the shelves? (Yeah I know some chains sell them now, this was 2001.) Plus even if I had one, I have no ability to bill for it. Finally told them to take it to a surgical supply and see what they can do. (Which will probably be nothing, but at least they're elsewhere and not wasting my time.)
I have had several blacks friends who are cold natured. I sweltered in their home and car. I see them in Arkansas, in summer, wearing jackets when the rest of us wear shorts and other light clothing. I do not buy that at all.
