Lets be real, this reply is simply because I am sick of seeing the same "ACB FACT CHECK" on every top comment. Just trying to slide it down a bit.

We have a unique opportunity to put anyone we want on the Supreme Court. It should be the youngest, most conservative champion we can find. We need to appoint a hard-core 2A Justice who will completely dismantle the NFA/1968/1986/Hughes Amendment for the Unconstitutional-on-it’s-face morass that it is. A firebrand.

66
RenaissanceOfHope 66 points ago +66 / -0

And dismantle the 1965 immigration act.

35

It's a shame we can't do that by voting in legislators that will do it. That's the way Teddy Kennedy's fucking of America should be stopped....by legislation.

She is a member of a group that used to call the women Handmaids, which is a biblical term. They had to change it after the series, "Handmaid's Tale." The Left already has a a former member lined up to say it was a cult. That she is a cultist Handmaid is what the Left is going to go on.

Meh, the reason why women live longer than men because men work in riskier fields than women. Women are more likely to work in a comfortable workspace like schools and offices. Men are more likely to work outside like lumberjack, oil driller, and construction worker. Saying women live longer than men because of reasons is just like saying women pay less than men because of reasons.

Well, it has to be someone that weak Republicans (Romney et al) will vote for.

And still - anybody is a huge upgrade from RBG.

15

Romney cares more about fucking Trump than his own re-election 4 years from now. He only became a Senator to try to fuck with Trump.

6
OnlySlightlyNaughty 6 points ago +7 / -1

Do they even need Romney. The Democrats weakened the vote to 51%. I think in terms of the senate that is pocket change.

4

Yes, Romney's vote is needed since the Abortion Twins (Alaska's Murkowski and Maine's Collins) have said they won't vote to confirm a replacement justice this year.

8
SpezRapesChildren 8 points ago +11 / -3

She was on Trumps list way before RBG kicked the bucket. She is qualified.

But was she at the top of the list? I don’t think a woman should be selected just because Ruth was a woman. THE MOST QUALIFIED PERSON for the job should get the seat, regardless of everything else. If the administration feels that a woman ends up being the most qualified, then it would be perfectly fine, but only in that case.

11
Dialectic 11 points ago +12 / -1

How would we know that for fuck sake? There was a rumor that she was almost selected instead of kavanaugh. If true, she must be pretty high on the list I guess

9
Abkmd011 9 points ago +9 / -0

She was second behind Kavanaugh from the news cycle last time, so it stands to reason she would be first this time.

Of course this all depends on if we can trust the news which is a huge IF...

Also I think not wanting to lose someone from a federal bench spot can play a role and is probably why that young guy in DC circuit wouldn’t be considered unless it’s after the election and trump wins and we keep the senate. That way you would have enough time to replace him. There is a ton of playing politics in this unfortunately.

2
Lurkmoar347 2 points ago +2 / -0

How is it that people on this site still have even the slightest belief in the”news” media?

2
AndrewLB 2 points ago +2 / -0

There are tons of more qualified "older" judges around the country, but do you really want a justice that the dems could possibly replace in 10-20 years? How is that any different?

Seeing how they treated Kavanaugh and the big spike in approval the republicans got at the time, imagine how voters will react if they treat a woman in similar fashion?

But regardless of any of that, she has a great record as a judge.

Johnson 3 points ago +3 / -0

Ha yes. They do not wish to function responsibly in society, which starts with taking care of your family.

3
PurestEvil 3 points ago +5 / -2

You hate your own country. You hate them because they act based on their "primitive human nature." Because of that they are the root of all evil. You - as someone acting against your nature - do not adhere to your "primitive" roots like religion, culture, tradition and family. You want to reform human nature because you consider everything emanating from that as bad and evil. Anything that goes against it is therefore good. Like Marxism, feminism, LGBT, pedophilia (soon™).

So you give in to hedonism - after all you reject decency, long-term thinking and sexual morality. You get pregnant, but you don't want the burden of responsibility. You abort it. You go and continue.

You also think that humanity has an overpopulation problem. Abortion is one solution. But because you believe human nature is inherently racist, and because you go against human nature and think you are not, you cannot say you want to abort non-white babies. So you push for population reduction only in predominantly white areas.

Yet you still secretly wish for a plague that kills 99% of the world population or some apocalypse. But it is in competition with your authoritarian tendencies... so if you have to choose between "sacrificing a few" or going full mask-communist mode, you obviously go for the latter.

Marxists indoctrinated you to focus your hate not on humans in general, but on white people. Sometimes Jews. But anything that is considered negative towards non-pure whites is called racist because you and your people call everything racist. So you ignore Jews or just lump them together with white people. That's ok because you ain't black if you don't vote Democrat anyway. "Whiteness" ascends to an ideology that surpasses race, so even blacks, Mexicans, Orientals and Jews can be victims or traitors - Uncle Toms who "act white."

Anyway, abortion supports your hedonistic tendencies and also fulfills your economic fascist fantasies.

3
meteorknife 3 points ago +3 / -0

Actual answer. Because once a woman has an abortion they know that they're less likely to join a voting group that morally condemns it.

2
Lysah 2 points ago +2 / -0

Simplest answers are often the truest. It's not even women who have had abortions, but women who think they might want one some day.

Pregnancy is scary, having a kid you'll be responsible for for the rest of your life is a scary thing. 9 months of torture, 18 years of more torture, hundreds of thousands of dollars spent. And it could happen, even if you don't want it to, because the birth control failed. That might be an incredibly rare situation, but the left tells people that it happens all the time to scare them.

Ultimately, fear is a powerful motivator. Most leftists vote out of fear. Fear that they'll lose their job and won't be able to pay for food or housing or healthcare. Fear that everyone is racist and secretly plotting to lynch them. Fear that they'll be forced to take care of and pay for a child. Fear that their wife will go to bed sexually frustrated.

I'm a woman and while I am pro-life I do understand what motivates women to vote for abortion. They're just scared. And Democrats think they can secure the female vote forever with this one issue. Just like they secured all the other minority votes so far.

1
oldhankdonald 1 point ago +1 / -0

I understand the desire some women have to want access to abortions- there are a lot of what ifs. I believe that all abortions are “wrong” just like sins can be of various magnitudes yet that doesn’t mean it should be illegal. First trimester? I think it’s wrong but I can’t say I would die on the hill to make it illegal.

However, what I am dead certain of is that late term abortion is literally murdering a living person that can’t defend itself. Anything after first trimester should be absolutely illegal and punishable by law. Late term needs to be 1st degree murder. Yet, you can find states that allow them. Just literally murdering babies. It’s absolutely sick.

14
Eric-CIA-ramella 14 points ago +15 / -1

Because, it's about running away from personal responsibility, re-framed in their minds as "a women's right" of freedom. I'd like to remind pedes here that while most of us are pro-life, there is a difference: I believe women have that right to a medical procedure that is morally evil, but it is NOT the Supreme Courts role to legislate that freedom over all the states. Roe vs. Wade was a massive mistake not because it legalized abortion, but because it criminalized the states constitutional right to govern themselves over the issue. That I think most of us can come to an agreement on.

1
MainstreamDeviant 1 point ago +2 / -1

An abortion is not a “medical procedure,” and calling it one is just a way to make a euphemism of child sacrifice and murder. Women do not have a right to do this morally evil thing because it infringes upon the rights of another living being. One person’s rights end where another person’s begins. That unborn child has rights just like you or I. You are right about Roe being outside the purview of the Supreme Court, but the language you use to describe abortion contributed largely to its social acceptance.

1
Eric-CIA-ramella 1 point ago +1 / -0

the language you use to describe abortion contributed largely to its social acceptance

Irrelevant, taxes are technically robbery but nobody is arguing over verbiage with taxes and sovereign citizens. I get your point tho, still a states right issue strictly.

31
JeremiahKassin 31 points ago +31 / -0

You've been trained to see humans as a parasite, when we're the reason the world is even here. Who would be here to describe the world, to harness and to protect it, if not for man? What purpose could the earth have without record keepers, without men of action, without Saints and soldiers and scientists?

Man is a noble creature, worthy of respect, and the earth is his dominion. If a tree falls in the forest, it is right that a man felled it. Likewise, a man who plants a tree builds a world of his own for the future to inherit.

You would have man as a parasite, but we are godlings, and if you don't believe in divinity, you must believe in man, for he is the very nearest thing!

Nothing was created for us and that arrogance will be our undoing.

The thought experiment is this:

What happens if children are 100% women's responsibility, and a man cannot by legislation be responsible in any way for child rearing?

I think the end result is something that looks a whole heck of a lot like a marriage contract.

12
Redditiscucked2 12 points ago +12 / -0

"My body my choice" is a fake premise. Women have 100% control over their bodies when it comes to pregnancy (except rape) - dont have vaginal sex. Thats it.

If women would randomly get pregnant out of thin air then yes, the "my body my choice" would have some logic. But they do not.

1
DiscoverAFire 1 point ago +1 / -0

Also hysterectomies, BC, Plan B, there's a hundred choices we support them making with their bodies. We just don't think another individual human life is their body.

1
GodSaveTheWest 1 point ago +1 / -0

Its a fake premise because that child isnt a part of their body. Its just attached.

Saying a fetus/child is part of your body is like saying a tape worm growing inside of you or a tick on your skin is part of your body.

Also encouraging women to not be complete sluts is why i support banning abortion. Maybe if they dont have the option of just killing the kid after getting pregnant they will think twice about having unprotected sex with those 10 guys she doesnt know.

1
Redditiscucked2 1 point ago +1 / -0

8ts not that they claim its part of their body but that their body is "used".

I agree, female promiscuity is a very big issue and has been proven that it damages both rhe women and their relationships.

Trump's rally was a perfect example of why he will pick a woman. I don't agree with it, but it's hard to argue with after his demonstration.

There was maybe three men in the entire crowd that had the balls to hold up their hand for a male supreme court nominee. Three, out of thousands of Trump supporters. Less than 1%.

How can he possibly pick a man with less than 1% active support? So many cucks in the world not willing to speak the truth. Women should not be on the supreme court - period.

3
Johnson 3 points ago +3 / -0

Sometimes popular support in one moment does not guide you to the successful outcome. We elect strong leaders to make these decisions for a reason. Probably every single act of war would earn this hysterical opposition and milquetoast support.

The only thing I could find on her for 2A is this:

https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/appellate-courts/ca7/18-1478/18-1478-2019-03-15.html

She gave the dissenting opinion, arguing that it should be unconstitutional to automatically ban felons from owning guns. Her arguments suggest that even a felon has 2A-protected individual rights, and the burden of proof should be on the government to justify why that individual is particularly-dangerous enough to warrant the removal of those rights.

  1. Trump didn't say it would be a woman until he narrowed his choices down to 5.
  2. We can't get a guy in the seat because they can delay the process with sexual allegations like Kavanaugh
  3. A woman can soak up more abuse without being attacked from a legal angle.

It's sad, but it's what we have to do. Any man would face unbelievable opposition.

4
deleted 4 points ago +4 / -0
3
DRKMSTR 3 points ago +3 / -0

There's a difference between attacks (find a resiliant person) and LEGAL attacks.

It's astronomically harder to make it stick to a woman this close to the election.

TBH, Cruz would be ideal right now. But we'll get what we get. At least Trump published the lists ahead of time so we know who they'll likely be.

4
DRKMSTR 4 points ago +4 / -0

Well, our main priority is to get a justice in there to prevent the election from being cancelled.

Not kidding, this could be our last election ever. That's the stupid reality we've arrived at.

So if we need to get a justice approved ASAFP, we need to find someone who can withstand the pressure and be teflon-ish. It's 4D chess at this point, nobody considers Kamala to be a 'woman' so this SC pick is essentially Trump's woman-card running mate. Any democrat attack will harm their voting population and push women to vote for Trump.

More like 8D chess at the moment, it's ridiculous and not simple in any way.

1
Pepe_Vult 1 point ago +3 / -2

We keep approaching everything from a perspective of a tactical retreat. Why not put up a qualified constitutional juror who looks like the men that made this nation? If these cocksuckers cheat the election we as men can fix it, except when our mentality is focused on how we will lose

DJT has always picked the best person for job and that's it. If it happens to be a woman - KellyAnn Conway, Ronna McDaniel, Sarah H Sanders - he plays the game the left tries to play and brags about how great his women are. No doubt in my mind he narrowed the list to the best candidates for this spot FIRST. When they happened to be women he went on the offensive with that

0
Ballind 0 points ago +2 / -2

Women really have an atrocious track record on the supreme court. It is disconcerting that we have to pick one this time. Would be nice to skip the whole rape thing I guess

2
Liganthropic 2 points ago +2 / -0

Trump should nominate a man, and say the quiet part loud: "Im nominating him not because of his ability but because of his gentials and race".

This will make the demos go insane, and they'll DEMAND that we create laws that do not allow supreme court packing based on those two things. Then when they try to hire women or bipocs into the position, solely because of those two things, they will spring their own trap.

14
christianknight 14 points ago +16 / -2

I like Lagoa simply based on her recent appointment. She got somewhere in the ballpark of 85-15 votes to confirm her. Dems would have a hard time explaining why they voted to confirm her (last year iirc) and won't vote to confirm her now.

1
lifeisahologram 1 point ago +1 / -0

That would actually be perfect, because he has 4 more years in the Senate, and he is one of the more vocal/better senators, and as long as the Republicans have the Senate, he could fill a retirement spot in 2023 or 2024.

Mr_Beanths 16 points ago +20 / -4

Picking a qualified woman is a strategic choice that is a good one. Could you imagine how it will look when Dems attack her? And there will be no sexual allegations.

Also, the women on Trump’s list are qualified. So they fit the criteria.

10
VinnyMAGA 10 points ago +11 / -1

Abortions benefit men more than women in many ways. They get away clean. Meanwhile, many women (not all but some who didn't think they would as well) have a lifetime of emotional baggage from it.

The strongest anti-abortionists I know are women, particularly those who have children.

100% believe they will attack her stance on abortion. They will label her anti-women rights. Enemy of women etc.

She could even waver like John Roberts and day she won’t touch Roe v Wade but they’ll still attacker her simply because she is a woman with conservative beliefs.

7
whippeat 7 points ago +7 / -0

People are also forgetting that she was strongly considered for the seat Kavanaugh ended up filling.

She was on Trump’s 2015 list of candidates

So it’s not like he was like ‘we need a vagina’ then pulled her out of nowhere. She’s been under consideration for 6 years now. Trump even said he was saving her for RBG’a seat.

So I don’t see a single issue here. She’s not a diversity hire. She’s perfectly qualified, hardcore conservative - at least equal to Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, if not more.

11
Constitution_jd 11 points ago +12 / -1

If we are picking on qualifications, both ACB and Lagoa are way more qualified than Cruz.

Although it is not without precedent, he has no experience hearing cases.

1
christianknight 1 point ago +6 / -5

You trust either of those 2 to uphold liberty? They either have no record or have sketchy records.

5
Constitution_jd 5 points ago +7 / -2

Trust wasn't the question; the question was experience and they both have more than Ted.

Also, you don't defend your claim and I know that's because you can't; you're merely repeating hearsay. Lagoa has a record, she's participated in thousands of cases, writing several appellate opinions. ACB does not have a sketchy record; point to a decision that she wrote that is an issue - defend your claim.

3
christianknight 3 points ago +9 / -6

ACB supports lockdowns. Its been posted all over here. Experience isnt going to get liberty back, its strict constitutionalism.

11
Constitution_jd 11 points ago +13 / -2 (edited)

She didn't write the opinion, and the opinion is not an expression of support of lockdowns. The IL Republicans crafted an incredibly weak argument specific only to churches that does not pass constitutional muster. A 3 judge panel (with two Trump appointees) unanimously agreed that the IL Republicans had no argument to stand on.

You haven't read it, stop letting other people dictate your opinions.

You can read it at the link below. Note that Judge Wood wrote the opinion, not Barrett. Then make your judgement.

I'd love to see one opinion that shows ACB is not a strict constitutionalist. I've actually written about one of her opinions for a legal audience, so I have a lot more trust in her.

https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/appellate-courts/ca7/20-2175/20-2175-2020-09-03.html

2
DeathBattleFan123 2 points ago +4 / -2

I see what you're saying, but I see what the other guy is saying too.

Unless she dissented, ACB agrees with the lockdowns on the basis of upholding the precedent set in Jacobson v. Massachusetts, 197U.S.11(1905), wherein the court ruled that the state could force a citizen to take a smallpox vaccine under certain conditions.

So whether she's personally in support of lockdowns or not, she definitely supports following precedent, even if it's a bad precedent.

0
kd5ywa 0 points ago +2 / -2

Hillary had experience over Trump....

2
Constitution_jd 2 points ago +4 / -2

And now you're moving the goalposts. The question was who had more qualifications, so this isn't relevant.

-4
Pepe_Vult -4 points ago +3 / -7

Quota hires dont have "history" they have a job they cant lose because their only qualification is a 'giner or being some sort of poc.

5
Constitution_jd 5 points ago +7 / -2

This is a meaningless claim that cannot be proven or disproven. Further, ACB was Scalia's personal choice and favorite clerk; was she a "quota hire" whose "only qualification is a 'giner" when Scalia thought she was the best person available for the job?

5
whippeat 5 points ago +6 / -1

I think the person you’re arguing with is literally an incel. He seems to spend all his time just shitting on women and saying they can’t be qualified.

ACB was on Trump’s SCOTUS shortlists for years. She was considered for the seat Kavanaugh ended up getting.

pragmatism and 4-d chess. we've got 40 days 'til the election and need to get our supreme confirmed. we can't have a repeat of kav. the left will be nasty anyways; let's allow the public to see their nastiness against a woman, a gender the left claims to support. it will be a red pill---just like nanshy's ripping of the sotu address or her salon appt. also, the optics of replacing the notorious rbg with a conservative woman and the fuzzy warm feeling that she WASN'T nominated by hillary (which was the whole plan in 2016) will be gratifying to deplorables.

we need ted where he is right now; if he was the supreme nomination, he'd have to shut up about politics immediately. prez maga will be able to fill 2-3 more seats in his next term (roberts, breyer, sotomayer)...ted will get his chance. unless he wants to be president, and i'm ok with that, too.

This is a calculated move owing to the shortened timeline. Remember what happened to Kavanaugh? If we try to appoint another man right now, the Left will pull the same crap. Now, they will be forced to simply whine about her religion. They won't be able to big down the proceedings with fake investigations. We can appoint a man when we have enough time to fight through the inevitable BS.

The left believes she was one of the great legal minds of her time… But she didn’t write a letter, sign a document, record a video, or even have her “dying wish“ witnessed by anyone? She didn’t get hit by a truck… She had a slow decline into death, with ample time to record her final thoughts.

So either she was clueless about official records or this whole “dying wish thing” is just a bullshit story cooked up by some of her bleeding heart family members.

such an obvious lie, really. not "tell them I love them" or anything human like that, but something political....right....

She didn't even have a decent picture taken for at least two years, right?

2
Pepe_Vult 2 points ago +2 / -0

Her dying words were "sell my watch ti ny daughter at a good price!"

1
ItsTooMuchWinning 1 point ago +1 / -0

Or she knew that her "wish" didn't mean anything to the process.

I wish all the democrats would resign, but I'm not putting it my will because it's not a valid request.

Even if Ruth said "I'd like a cat to be my replacement" while she was hopped up on morphine the Dems would run with it.

Article is cucked:

This is a change in sentiment from four years ago. When U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died in February 2016, Cruz and other Republicans successfully blocked then-President Barack Obama's appointee, Judge Merrick Garland, from serving on the court. They argued at the time that it is inappropriate for a Supreme Court nomination to move forward so close to a presidential election.

8
Dallasguy 8 points ago +8 / -0

No mention of Obama being a lame duck with a Republican senate. No mention that everyone agreed to allow the election to be a referendum on the SCOTUS pick. No mention that nobody on the left thought Hillary was going to lose.

From donation solicitation directly below above article;

Texas Tribune members invest in our nonprofit newsroom because they believe credible, nonpartisan reporting makes for a better, smarter Texas.

The Texas Trib is a partisan rag that thinks they are unbiased. Literally the worst kind of "journalist", and that is saying something.

Pound for pound, worms do far more for good for our world than journalists.

1
PraiseBeToScience 1 point ago +1 / -0

Literally in their world, bias only exists in the form of white supremacy.

Shit even though this place is an echo chamber most of us recognize there's a hilarious volume of far right garbage tier websites posing as biased news.

I am convinced that Abortion will be the enduring issue of this age. It is what future peoples, from centuries down the road, will look at when they reflect upon this time of our history. Similar to how we look back upon the Slavery of the 18th and 19th centuries. At some point in the near future we will make abortion illegal. There will be much distress from the left, but they will eventually accept the will of the people, and move on to other issues that are more morally defensible. Once the mainstream media's total blockade over the issue comes down - most people will realize that it was a barbaric thing to do.. and it disproportionately affected black people.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg most certainly wrote herself into that story, but she won't be reflected upon positively. In fact, i feel like the lens upon which future people will look upon abortion will be the "racial" lens. Once again, similar to how we look at slavery. Most people don't realize that white people were slaves too. Indentured service was a real thing.

But back to my point - future people will look at abortion as something our society did to promote and conduct a passive genocide against the black population. Margaret Sanger and Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be viewed as the most evil sort of human beings - those who hated blacks so much they promoted the systematic slaughter of their unborn. Planned Parenthood as the figurative Auschwitz - the evil partners who profited from the exercise.

It gives me great pleasure to think that a future generation of SJWs might be protesting these people and tearing down their statues, burning their books, etc. Maybe they'll even still call themselves Democrats and blame the future Republicans for abortion. That would be hysterical. I hope i live long enough to see it happen.

Ted talked about her on a recent episode of Verdict. He knows her, talked highly and very respectfully of her, no way he intends any disrespect, but this was a fucking retarded attempt and in the end it will be better for her memory if anybody gives a shit. Leftists would turn her into a skinsuit and make hillary wear it if they could.

They argued at the time that it is inappropriate for a Supreme Court nomination to move forward so close to a presidential election.

That IS NOT what they argued. They argued that Merrick shouldn’t have been nominated in an election year WITH the Senate majority and Presidency being from different parties.

Joe Biden even agreed with them in 1992 before he went completely senile. Same with McConnell in 2016.

The irony in all of this is that the "dying wish" claptrap actually only exposes what a crap judge she really was. It exposes that she didn't even understand how Supreme Court judges are appointed.

4
MoldySideOfBeef 4 points ago +4 / -0

Good. Ginsburg's (apparent) dying wish doesn't supercede the US Constitution. Crazy idea, I know.

Capitol Hill observers are bracing for the nastiest fight in at least a generation in the Senate over Ginsburg's successor.

Ah yes, the bitch doesn't think what they did to Kavanaugh was nasty.

Also, it's infuriating to no end that they keep saying the GOP had no problem blocking Obama's pick in his last year, despite the much more nuanced reason being that there was a power shift in the Senate that was opposite that of the President who was leaving the White House no matter what.

"That, of course, is not the standard," he added. "Under the Constitution, members of the judiciary do not appoint their own successors."

Schumer took to the floor immediately after Cruz spoke, stating that he believed "Justice Ginsburg would easily see through the legal sophistry" of Cruz's argument. He said Cruz turned the late justice's "dying words" against her, which Schumer said is "so, so beneath the dignity of this body. I do not modify."

Clown world.

Cruz then objected to the resolution, and it did not pass.
