Zoning is tricky....
if you limit suburban sprawl, but population growth trends upwards, then you increase the population of urban centers and force significantly higher urban populations in super dense proximity (New York, Austin), forced to build up instead of out. Which generally speaking are where the far-left strongholds already are
But if you allow endless suburban sprawl, the population can grow outwards in endless suburbs, which trends like Denver or Chicago, and creating countless left leaning "moderates" which outweigh the rural conservative vote.
Ideally, some sort of zoning that would require people to live with a certain amount of freedom and responsibility that comes with land ownership. Anecdotally, It worked for me. moving from a 1/3 acre suburb lot to a 2 acre exurb/rural lot pushed me way to the right on the political spectrum simply because I saw first hand what true freedom and responsibility looked like in practice. Even at the 1 acre scale a landowner has problems an urban or suburbanite never experiences - you need to deal with trees downed on your land, water, drainage, firewood stacking, parking, paths, fencing, burning, waste management, etc. And suddenly the conservative worldview is suddenly understood and appealing as to why the landowner should have a say in their own destiny rather than some leftist baffoon dictating from their throne on high what you should do with YOUR land.
I just have no ideas what that sort of zoning would look like, and how to apply it. curious as to your or other pede's thoughts
Texas has democrats?! Geez, the California exodus has certainly caused some collateral damage.
Texas needs to do 3 things at the state level to stop Marxism:
Zoning Laws to contain the urban sprawl by limiting population density of new development (easily the most important and least talked about)
Finish The Wall
Secure election integrity
Texas WILL become Democrat in our lifetime if these 3 things aren’t completed.

It's closer to Dallas, kinda inbetween Houston & Dallas. Near Waco. Very small town.
It seems Groesbeck (our county seat) has gotten somewhat liberal, about 50% biden signs, 50% trump signs.
I assume it's the liberals coming back to roost with their parents since their degrees didn't work out.
There's also a large black & hispanic population here due to the State School.
